When I had the same problem at first, I snapped the bottom into place first, it showed me where the hinges needed to go.
There are two of them
The replacement latch's holes matched those of the original
This is the size of cooler I bought. Great solution, easy to install, and will last for a lifetime. I am not sure why Igloo doesn't use them for their manufacturing process. A consideration they should take into account. The original hinges on every door that I know eventually need to be replaced with a few years of purchasing. The purchase was a good one for me.

There is no line of sight between the holes. The label suggests that it should be used with 165 QT units, in spite of the instructions being stated in the Quick and Easy As a result of a troubleshooting, this product is incompatible with a 165 QT Igloo cooler I have. After it is snapped into the place first, the holes for attaching the lid are half an inch too wide and cannot be secured. To serve as a reference, we have included the original latch on this page. The following edit was made on 7/21/20 In contacting Igloo directly about replacement latch choices, only one seller had latches suitable for the newest version of coolers. The 1471638525 item number is the correct replacement part.
Installing the hinge part is as easy as sticking it into two of the holes in Even older Igloo coolers, such as mine which is close to 20 years old, are susceptible to corrosion. When my plastic latch was old, it was a two-screw type, and it was closer to the correct position than the new one. Although these latches closed properly, they did not lie completely flat against the cooler when it was As a result I could have kept the old posts with a slightly different appearance, but I replaced them with the new black posts. This way the latches can lay flat and it has a cleaner appearance. It will be easy to fill in the old screw holes with white caulk, but you can't see them with the latch closed anyway. You will not have to drill any holes for the installation of the new post. It is simple to screw into the plastic post using the latch that holds the post in place. Using a pilot hole will not affect the screw's ability to dig in. Adding to that, I would like to point out that the important part of this latch is stainless steel. As the plastic portion that you lift up does not seem to be likely to fall apart, then I am not convinced it is worthwhile to upgrade to the.
These plastic parts are the weak spots for Igloo coolers, which anyone who owns one will know. Despite having an Igloo nearly 20 years old, I just replaced the latches and hinges by using these hybrid latches along with the stainless steel I found a 165 quart Igloo Maxcool in the brush along a road, which had been abandoned by its owner. Although it was in good shape, the cooler's latches and one hinge were broken, and the drain cap was not present. A little elbow grease and less than thirty bucks and the cooler was ready to use again. The product is highly recommended, and I would purchase it.
Having these definitely makes your cooler look a lot more sexy than having those cheap looking white plastic ones that broke after a couple of uses! This product looks like it will last quite a while - the workmanship appears to be very good Time has flown by incredibly fast!.
There is no other option than to blow It is molded from saves money on hinges and clasps by using a set of hinges and clasps that take the place of What are you? In the end, Igloo sells good latches on Amazon for $12 each. By the time you replace the hinges and latches (not sold as sets), you have forked out 25% of the cooler's cost, 50% for smaller coolers to have what Yeti or others would have provided. Yes, they fit well. The only color they come in is black. My cooler is white. There are knobs on the latches as well. They are both broken too, which is a good thing.
The white plastic "planned obsolescence" latches on our 96-97 Falcon were in bad shape and needed to be replaced after the first year I went with a 1-quart Igloo chest. It fit perfectly, and I was able to install it both in a matter of minutes. I really like the metal hinges, and I expect that they will last much longer than the original plastic "flex-lock" latches that came with the ice chest they feel more durable than those that came with it originally. The "planned obsolescence" hinge is gone (good-bye and good riddance! For the first time since purchasing the new latches, we used the chest over the 4th weekend. The latches worked perfectly (even when the chest was accidentally I expect that we'll be able to use this ice chest for several more decades now that all of the obvious failure points (latches, hinges, and straps) have been replaced with metal or metal-coated plastic alternatives. Replacements with hybrid technology.
This isn't a bad product, it's a bit lighter than I thought it would be, but they'll hold up much better than those useless disposable tabs that came with the Igloo. My only complaint is that I wish they'd ship with a slightly fatter screw (Like THE story of her life) but in all honesty, most of us have replaced the plastic screws 1 or 3 times before we bought the proper It has been a little while since the screw holes have been used.
Not a big deal, made it fit just not a great clip. Unless you take good care of the plastic nubs that hold the clips closed (that is the sole purpose of this product), you will wear them out very quickly. The simple solution will probably be to install a padlock latch on this old machine! Unfortunately, this is a replacement option only available through the factory. The battery is likely to last for a while under light use, but the price makes it uneconomical for me.
