My Neo 1 has been making a metallic grinding noise for about 4 years now. I'm not sure what is wrong or what I need to do. In time, debris does accumulate inside the magnets within, so you have to wipe them off after removing the flywheel. I found the process to be very simple. You should note when you put the flywheel back on that the magnets are very strong and will basically pull it back to place. It was a pleasant surprise that it worked on the Neo 1, since they don't really advertise it as such. XBOX 360 S90 comes with the bolts you need and is made of sturdy plastic.
I was surprised at how simple the tool was to use and how well it worked as designed. Its purpose is to pull the disk out from between the magnets by adding friction to the center bolt.
