Regrettably, the sizing was an educated guess and not as precise as I had hoped. I had to give it back to them. I contacted the company to voice my dissatisfaction with the sizing decision. Thankfully, they have excellent customer service; this is a company that genuinely cares about its product and strives to improve and satisfy its customers. They went above and beyond to try to make things right. Give them your business if you're interested in working with them. Nowadays, finding a company willing to go to such lengths is difficult.
Pads are excellent. They come with a detachable center chest pad, which I like but found uncomfortable for my son. He simply removed it (Velcro) and that was the end of it. My son appreciates how light they are while still being able to take a beating. At 10 years old, 4'10" and 83 pounds, he is a good fit for a medium.
We are new to lacrosse, as far as I know. I got an extra small after ordering based on my son's weight. It hurt his ears to take off the extra heart protection pad because it was uncomfortable. Everything was solved after I ordered a small. He enjoys both the pads and the game of lacrosse.
For my 8-year-old, who weighs 72 pounds soaking wet, I ordered a size small based on the size chart. A 5-year-old should be able to fit in the small. The padding appears to be thin, so it doesn't appear to be very protective. Very let down.
At his age group, he is strong and has plenty of protection. br>br>Size Medium was a good fit for our 5'4", 75 pound 5th grader.
These pads appealed to me because they provide more back protection (the pads extend further down the back) than other Lax pads. Also, because Lax balls are essentially round hokey pucks, and in U10, the ball starts getting shot pretty quickly, the extra "heart" pad is great; my son likes it because the pads are light and not restrictive.
Run on a very small scale. I had to go back.
It worked perfectly.
