I'm about 3'9" tall and weigh 65 pounds. 4'3". A small is appropriate for someone weighing 65 pounds or less. 90 pounds and 4'3" in height- 4'8". Sizing up may be a good idea if he is in the middle of the sizes at that age. It is recommended that you measure from the middle finger to about mid forearm when sizing gloves. They do have the shoulder pad and appear to be the same as the picture.
