Someone weighing 140 pounds will be able to fit into an xxl. In my son's case, he had them last year and they were amazing. You might also want to consider Douglas shoulder pads.

I am purchasing TAG's ALT shoulder pads for my son for the third time. Now that he is in high school, he is studying philosophy. In my position as an equipment manager, I oversee the resources of a youth organization. In my experience, I have used every make and model of pad in the world. I think these TAG's are the best brands and styles on the market, although there are a lot of other good ones as well. Besides providing great protection and fit, they are also extremely lightweight. Aside from being lightweight and comfortable, they are also very durable. I have a son who has fantastic mobility and they hug him. The only pads he wants to wear are the ones he uses as a running back and a slot receiver.

I can never live without these shoulder pads! As far as I can tell, these are the best shoulder pads I love how well they work and my son loves how they look

Those under the arms buckles he wears are loved by his teammates. The straps on each of theirs are elastic. Aside from being cool, light, safe, and of high quality, they are also very sturdy. These are too small for my son, so I purchased 2 more to accommodate him.
