You might find it really small if you're a teenager

There are no really bad things about this backplate, but you ought to make sure your child is at least 7 years old or so in order to get the adult size, since the youth size is much too small for my 8 year old and he is thin. It was not stated to be so small, so three stars is the best I can give.

Protect the lower back and the spinal column

The lower back and spine are fully protected, and the fit is perfect. Weighing 109 pounds, he is 5' 3" and weighs 109 pounds. Due to the youth size being too small in size, the adult size was the best choice. In the picture, you can see that it covers his entire lower back, without restricting his movement. If you want to secure the fasteners to the shoulder pads, I recommend that you apply a small amount of Blue Loctite to the threads so that they do not loosen up during use.

It is exactly what my son wanted. He is pleased with it. I think it is a little pricey, but as long as he is happy with it, and it helps to protect, it is okay with me. I found the mattress to be easy to install, and it was.

The brace was very helpful to protect my grandson's back in the lower back area. At first I had no idea how to attach this, until another member of the team told me that I needed to remove the old bolts on the back and replace them with new ones, and that went on very easily.
