I, like almost every other travel baseball parent, get a little nervous about spending money on "non-essential" items for my player, but I'm glad I did in this case. Spending extra money on a "form" for a catcher's mitt seemed excessive at first, and when it came to $100, I thought it was insane. Until I went outside and examined the three old catchers mitts my son had gone through, as well as the shoddy manner in which they had been broken in and then stored. I quickly calculated that I had spent around $400 on each of the gloves, and they were in terrible condition. With the help of the WebGem Square, my son now has a perfectly formed mitt that has significantly improved his framing and overall game. Do yourself a favor, especially if you're just getting started on this adventure, and buy one of those gloves. You'll be glad you did.
It does exactly what it says on the tin. When the glove is not in use, it prevents it from flattening out and holds the pocket. We have a glove for every occasion.
