Is this suitable for use as a first base mitt?

We've never tried it with my son's first base mitt, but I don't see why not. How you form the mitt will have a big impact. My son's outfield glove is made with the glove warp. It's not that we don't want to use it for his first base mitt; it's just that he wants to keep his outfield mitt in good shape. The glove wrap does an excellent job of protecting the gloves. This will undoubtedly aid in the preservation of your figure.

Is the plastic ball of a certain size? Is it a baseball or a softball, with a diameter of 11" or 12"?

I don't have it in front of me, but I'd estimate it to be about the size of a baseball. It's possible that it's the size of a softball. It primarily serves to give the glove some shape and prevent compression. It was a good investment. All I have to do now is remind my son to re-insert the glove.

Is this something that can be done with a catcher's glove?

I haven't tried it, but my guess is that it won't work because the ball is too large for the catchers to handle. Also, because the ball is in the middle of the wrap, the mit is higher and the wrap may not completely encircle the ball.

Protect the shape of the gloves

This is my third purchase of a wrap. My boys got the first two. This was the last one I wanted. I used to put a softball in the glove and wrap it in whatever I could think of to keep it together. Never again will I have to deal with a pancaked glove. The best part is that it teaches my children to value and care for their belongings.

Any baseball glove will look great with this wrap on it. It aids in the breaking down of barriers. It can be used in a new glove and it can also be used to protect existing ones.
