Questions & Answers

Can boat shoes be used with this?

In my opinion, it would work as long as you have enough room to insert the punch through the lacing hole and pull it back through.

If you relace the fingers of a 13" Mizuno softball glove that has this much lace, will it fit?

The wrapping of the lace determines how long it lasts. The double wrap on the pocket was part of the 3/4 complete mitt I did with one package of laces. As long as you're just stitching together the fingers, there should be plenty of lace to cover your hands.

When it comes to needles, how long is it?

An overall length of 8" can be measured to reach the handle of the tool with a 5" needle

Could you give me your thoughts on the tool's use for football laces? Or is the hole too small for football laces?

In my opinion, it would be a good idea. Even though it seems like a bit of overkill, it will do the job.

It does what it is supposed to
4/5

A hint on how to replace. Is sturdy enough for its purpose and works well. if one wants to restring a full glove, it would still be a good idea to use braided wire. If only one is doing one or two replacements, then this tool will do the trick. If one is doing a lot of fine loops (like the top of a glove), the needle will be required. There is a claim on the product that the leather lace is of the same thick/strength as the gloves, but it didn't seem to be as thick/strengthened as the glove. That also may be relative, since I haven't bought any new gloves in years.

HINT - If you're replacing worn laces, ensure that they're still attached or tied By removing the terminating end of the old lace, tape (just a thin piece of Scotch tape will do) it to the end of the new lace and then staple them together, one can end up with a nice and long lace. By using tape to hold the laces together, staples will be able to be used. If it is too long the staple ends will catch on the glove as the gloves pull through. Use pliers to ensure the staple ends are pressed downward into the laces so they do not catch and pull. Once the old lace has been worked out, replace it with the new while gently pulling/working the old lace out.

Another suggestion is to lightly oil the new lace before lacing it since this will make it glide through the glove more easily. You should use the same type of oil you would use to oil the glove.

Tool and leather are fine, but hides are a mess
3/5

It would only make sense to buy this if it had a Lace was made of leather but was absolutely useless. It would break if you looked at it the wrong way. I won't ask you for anything. Please send my $5 to me rather than throwing it away. By knowing what you will be getting, you can at least plan to spend your money wisely.

There was a break in the lace after three Following receipt of the glove repair kit, I installed the leather into the pocket of my glove the following It was difficult to pull the leather through the holes with the metal tool, because the metal eats through the leather
3/5

It was important to me to keep the tool as close to the ends as possible, so that the leather was damaged as little I took the leather to practice the net day, but it catastrophically failed in 4 areas within a few throws. It lasted for less than 5 throws total. Despite the fact that the glove didn't even slow down, the ball flew straight through. There is no way I would recommend this [product, and I would give it a zero if I could.

This is a fantastic deal! It may be helpful to link to an online video tutorial
4/5

A lace-up of my Rawlings Cal Ripken glove at the age of 24 was achieved using the product. A YouTube video that worked for my glove type was finally found after I had initially frustrated myself. Watching, playing, and pausing, then following along, was all I needed to do. That saved me a lot of waiting time and whatever the cost of shipping (pandemic) is, and having someone else deliver it for me! My other glove may be laced at the end with a leather lacing needle instead next week. If the lacing tool stretches the holes too much, then the holes may have to be reshaped. A new update is coming soon!.

I found it to be effective My glove was saved, which I am very happy about
5/5

My glove has been disintegrating since the laces connecting the thumb to the webbing disintegrated 35+ years ago. I bought this product to repair it. The system appears to work well and has been firmly retied. I haven't tried it in the field yet, but it appears very solid. There was only about 1/2 of the lace left after I finished using it. My small area is more than ample for an entire glove, but I don't think you can relate an entire glove. Based on comments about using the tool, I was a bit concerned. There is no easy way to do this. The gap between the lace and tip should just be barely visible. When you loop the lace around the tip, it will not be possible to pull it through the glove. The lace does have a hard time being pulled through because of this. Because the lace is barely large enough to fit into the loop at the top, it falls right out of the tool. Each time I got it through a hole in the thick part of a glove, I had to try two or three times. Even so, I was very happy that with just a little patience and only $4 I was able to restore my glove to like new condition.

Great tool, but you will need to customize it first
5/5

It is strong, but you will need to file down the inside edges of the eyeholes due to their sharp edges shredding the edges, or you may have to cut off the tip of the laces you are To prevent a ball bladder from accidentally being scratched, snagged, or torn in an accident, you might also want to do the same with the outer edges. This is a very sturdy tool, aside from sharp and rough edges.

It is not easy to thread
3/5

This was purchased to repair the lacing of my daughter's softball glove that was, unfortunately, ripped off by a It is extremely difficult to thread the glove with the provided tool. If you try folding in half and pulling through as if a sewing needle, the lacing is just too wide. To make matters worse, I had to only put the tip of the lacing into the hole, which was a terrible solution as well. In the future, I will buy one of the other types of tools when I need to do this. It is much easier to imagine it will be.

If you are lacing or tying lace on gloves, this is a must have
5/5

Relying on someone who has It is definitely necessary for our team to have string gloves. In the event of a re-election stitch your entire glove with this but it's not as easy as you'd hope. However, you will need this when lacing your gloves. Thanks for reading. Hopefully that made.
