What you're trying to achieve with the pad will determine this. If you need elbow pads for pretty much any type of training or airsoft, I'd recommend having elbow pads. When I teach weapon defense, I use several of them to keep people from getting too badly marked up and to soften any hits to the "funny bone." " I hope this was of assistance!
I simply wash and dry them. There haven't been any issues for me.

I'm very pleased with the elbow pads that I purchased. I mountain bike, and while I'm not an expert, I do ride some of the more difficult trails. These pads are simple to put on, stay in place, are light, and most importantly, they protect your elbow and a good portion of your arm, preventing road rash from dirt, rocks, and plants. I've survived a couple of spills so far. Best of all, once you put them on, you don't even notice they're there; they just stay put and are there when you need them. Well worth it, great quality, and better coverage than some of the actual MB pads on the market.
I thought it was strange that it was advertised as for martial arts but on the inside it says it's not for sparring, but it's very comfortable. I was able to smack my forearm up against the wall with it and they patted it a lot, so overall I'm satisfied.
I'm not going to use them for MMA, but rather for mountain biking. Must say, those are very comfortable; perhaps the size (circumference) is a little larger than average L size (I usually buy L size), but they can be worn without difficulty (perhaps M size is too short for me). I'll use them for MTB riding because the absorbent material is approximately 8mm thick, which is sufficient to withstand normal branch shocks or falls. It's a brilliant red with a lovely sheen to it. They're a little hot for me because I live in the tropics, but they're manageable, so I'm happy.
My 9-year-old son, who plays tackle football, fit perfectly in the small size. He has skinny arms, so they fit fine; they're a little big, but they stay in place, and he'll be able to wear them for at least another year. He used to complain about his arms hurting when he'd tell, but these provide excellent protection, and he's much more confident now.
After several surgeries, I needed extra protection for my arm as a goalie at 50 years old, and these pads provided it. They complement my padded goalie jersey by absorbing all of the impact and punishment my body receives when diving and striking the ground. I would strongly advise anyone in a similar situation to read it.
At work, we're actually using these for ppe. We've had a couple of forearm injuries, so these will come in handy.
The padding is just right, and it's very light. I'm glad I was able to acquire these.
These are much better than the foam elbow guards I've used for Karate/Tae Kwon Do sparring. I've been using them for about six months now, and they're a great product.
