It will protect not only the person wearing the gloves, but also the person you punch (albeit only slightly because the material is very thin and the knuckles are not padded). The gloves' primary purpose is to protect the wearer's knuckles from scrapes. When sparring, the gloves are an excellent investment. We used them until the kids were no longer able to fit into them. After that, I went up a size.

What does it mean to be a large size? I'm the mother of an eight-year-old daughter. Is this going to work?

I don't think these will fit because they are too big. Child large may be ok, depending on the person's height. regards
