It appears that the inseam can be cut to 14 inches. I took a measurement from the middle of a 16-inch western saddle to the foot rest of the stirrups; perhaps stirrup pads would add another 1/2 inch.
They aren't hooded in any way. They look exactly like they do in the photo.
They're perfect for my 8-year-old granddaughter, who is quite small. They are of good quality and are ideal for children who are unable to reach the pony saddle's stirrups. My pony saddle is a ten-inch model.
I don't think they could, but I could be wrong. Because they're shorter than standard stirrups, reaching the ground while dismounting would be difficult. But it's difficult to say.

The ease with which these stirrups were set up impressed me greatly. I was considering purchasing a saddle for my 4-year-old, but the prices for an adult saddle were nearly identical to those for a child's saddle. With these stirrups, I can let my son ride in my older saddles instead of having to buy a new one. I liked how secure the stirrups were and how easily they could be adjusted.
This was something I ordered in the hopes of it helping. My son's GF's daughter adores horses and wishes to ride them when they visit, but I don't have a saddle in which she can learn to ride with her legs. Despite the fact that she is a petite 7-year-old, these stirrups were too short for her. I had to send them back.
This is exactly what my daughter's saddle required! We bought these because her legs were just a tad too short for her new saddle, and we hoped they would provide her with a more secure fit. They were easy to adjust and use, and they worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something for their riders whose legs aren't quite long enough!.
This is an outstanding item!.
They fit my four-year-old perfectly and will continue to do so for a few years. I was looking for a product like this.
As was to be expected. Unfortunately, the child for whom I was purchasing these was in the middle of the length range. The buckaroo straps are too short at their longest length, while the straps on my regular saddle are too long at their shortest length; however, the straps themselves are of good quality and perform as expected. Appreciate the fact that you can adjust from a variety of angles.
These were purchased for our granddaughter, who is learning to ride, and she uses them when she doesn't want to change saddles during lessons. If she plans on riding the same horse during lessons, she now has a saddle.
The stirrups are very nice, but they don't stay tight all of the time. I'm always pulling them to the shortest length possible. Maybe if I lengthen them a little, they'll stay put. I'm surprised they haven't been able to reduce the length. For my 4-year-old, they're still too long. year- He's been riding since he was two years old, in a small 12" hunt saddle. To become a cowboy, he'll have to wait a while longer.
