For a 16, I have the Large Horse size. Warmblood with three hands. I'm not sure it'd fit a Percheron head in there.
My 16-hand appy fits in the standard size, but a Belgian's head is much larger! I'm not sure how I can help you- sorry.
Yes, the average is equal to a full glass.

We used the "Small Horse" size for our Arabs from yearling to almost 3 years old, then upgraded to the "Average Size" because the throat latch had become too tight around the jaw. Because our Arabs are large (15 hands) and have classic heads, we adjust the nose to the smallest or 1 hole beyond the smallest setting on the Average, and the throat/jaw to the largest setting with one extra hole. The chestnut is green, and the bay is blue, and they're both beautiful!.
In 2014, I purchased my first one from Stateline Tack. It WILL RIP if your horse is determined enough, which is one of the reasons I enjoy it. When I first bought my mare, she was off the track and had terrible farrier manners. She was tied to a post, reared, and went insane for no apparent reason; luckily, her halter tore off, or she would have been seriously injured. br>br>I bought a replacement that lasted 6 years, but she JUST ripped it in a fit of rage after being sprayed with fly spray in her ear. That's how long I've been free of a $10 halter. br>br>It's a little more expensive on Amazon, but the quality is excellent for the price; it's very thick and has nice padding at the poll and noseband, as well as being very adjustable for a custom fit. It's oversold on Stateline, but I'm glad I was able to find it for a reasonable price somewhere else because it's a fantastic halter.
I could tell the halter was of good quality the moment I opened the bag it came in. The material is sturdy and thick, and the colors are vibrant and appealing. I was disappointed that the purple halter was out of stock, so I ordered the blue instead, but it looks great on my gelding, so I'm satisfied! The metal clasps had a bit of a dark rub/stain on them, but it had no bearing on the item. The padding is a nice touch, and the adjustable parts make it comfortable for my gelding.
This halter is lighter than the three other halters I own of the same brand and size. br>The padded pieces on the nose and behind the horse's ears are not as stiff and sturdy as the ones I got back in 2015. I still have a 2015 original, and the quality is so much better than it is now. br>However, I believe the halter's padded areas have a lower value. Everything else appears to be in working order, but this halter should only be used for training purposes if your horse is fully trained. I wouldn't use it to tie and bathe a horse unless the horse knows how to tie quietly while being bathed. When wet, like many nylon halters, they stretch, and because this one is of lower quality, your average halter will quickly become a large, and your large will quickly become an extra large. When they're dry, they shrink back to their original size! I'd buy this halter again in a heartbeat.
This halter is absolutely stunning. I particularly like the padding; I've only had it a few days, but it's very nice and well made. Because the muzzle is quite large, it is thankfully adjustable. My Thoroughbred mare, on the other hand, looks absolutely stunning in it. If you're looking for something well-made, strong, and stylish, this halter is a good choice. Once the weather clears, I'll try to upload a photo.
Weaver never fails to deliver high-quality products, and the halter's sizing is highly customizable, so it perfectly fits my Arab's tiny head! In addition, the purple is adorable!.
Because we're moving and taking a 7-hour trip, I ordered this padded halter for my mare. The padded areas (behind the ears and on the noseband) appear to be breathable and comfortable. It shouldn't be too thick that it causes her to sweat and rub. Which was a source of concern for me. I also like how the nose band can be adjusted. Great product, and I'll be purchasing more for my other horses.
My horse was spooked because he was tethered. He tore the gate he was tied to up, and the halter wouldn't let go, so he panicked, got badly hurt, and eventually stood still enough for us to unclip him. This is a fantastic item, but it isn't a game-changer. If you have a horse that spooks easily, this is not the horse for you. br>Weaver is a great brand, but it is pricey.
