There is no lead rope, only a short leather strap that hangs down.
Quarter horse is something I'm not sure about. My thoroughbred filly was two and a half months old when she needed a larger halter.

It'll take months for her to get used to it. This image is as close to perfect as possible.
He has to wear it every time he is let out of his pen with Mommy, and he has come to expect it. Great quality, both sides of the halter adjust, and it came with a second leather piece to keep adjusting when he grows a bigger head. br>br>Con - if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be I'd leave it on while he was turned out, and as he ran around, I noticed the catch rope swings around, smacking him in the face, and he developed an eye ulcer, which I had to treat. Fortunately, I was aware of the situation quickly, and my husband works as a veterinarian. We removed the catch rope after that incident, but we still plan to use this halter as he grows. (Your eye is fine, and you can't tell anything happened. ) br>br>This halter comes highly recommended!.
This small halter is of excellent quality. It's soft and easy to work with, which I really appreciate. I was also pleased that, with the exception of newborns, it fits a variety of foals of various sizes. I was dissatisfied because it was too big for the baby's face and I couldn't get it to fit properly. The catch rope is an excellent addition to the game. It doesn't come undone or get in the way at all. Having two different crown pieces, as well as two different adjustment points, was a huge help and made it much easier to get on a grumpy foal. I prefer figure 8 halters because of how well they fit, how durable they are, and how safe they are compared to a nylon rope halter.
This foal halter is one of my favorites. I have a number of them. For any Quarter Horse foal under a month old, this one is too stiff and large. My foals are between 30 and 60 days old now, so I'm using it a lot more, but they're almost grown out of it. Except in a secure stall, I would never leave a foal halter on. If a halter is caught, the foal may suffer serious injuries. I just wanted to mention it.
There is no need to adjust anything else with the figure 8 slide under the jaw. The product is well-made.
It's nice that it includes two crown pieces for the foal to "grow" into. (Bonus: This requires both sides of the crown to be adjustable, which is far superior to having only one adjustment point). Although the catch rope appears to be easily lost, I've used these halters on a number of foals and the catch strap has remained secure on all of them. There are no signs of chafing or discomfort caused by metal or leather.
Weaver leather products have always been a favorite of mine. This halter is made of high-quality materials and will not let you down. Brass buckles and high-quality leather. It also comes with two head straps to fit a variety of baby sizes. If a baby is wearing this style of halter, I always feel much safer leaving it on. Weaver leather, thank you so much!.
First and foremost, I appreciate the fact that it is a break from the norm. The leather has a nice thickness to it. It takes a second to break in, but I really like it. The foal lead that comes with it is extremely useful and has served us well. It was too big for her until she was a few weeks old, but we jimmy rigged it so we could use it right away, and it worked out perfectly; she's now a month and a half old and still has plenty of room.
