They looked for a better one but couldn't find one, and the orthopedic office never got back to me, so I had to look for one myself. I looked at a few different options, but this sling had the best price and a good reputation. The mesh is soft and padded, which you can't tell by looking at the pictures. Everything about this sling is soft and simple to use, from the Velcro closure to the adjustable buckles and the ease with which she can slide her arm in and out. My daughter's hand/thumb "ring" is a little big, but the waist strap adds an extra layer of support, so it's not a problem. The Velcro-type closure is the only thing I would change. It's only on the ends of the straps, so you'll have to get creative with how you tuck it away if there's any left over. This is a product that I would strongly recommend and purchase again!.
This was purchased for my 7-year-old son, who is of average height and weight. The sling is NOT child-sized; it fits me, a grown adult; the sticker says it's for children, but the instructions show an adult wearing the "children's" sling. The neck strap is about 2 feet longer than it should be, and the waist band is so large that it could fit around her twice (but I'm too annoyed to find out). )br>Shipment was quick, and I'm hoping for a similar response from my refund.
The strap designs aren't great, so I bought it for my 4-year-old. Over time, the straps became looser, and the extra portion of the waist strap is long and hangs down. If the thumb isn't in the grip, the entire thing moves, and his arm comes out. I tried pinning the straps to keep them in place, but that didn't work. I made the decision to give it back.
When my daughter's elbow was broken, I bought this for her. It has a nice appearance, and the mesh appears to be sturdy, but it moves far too much. I had to keep adjusting her arm and neck straps all the time. It did not appeal to her in the least.
My daughter despised it because she had to wear it to school and complained about having to put it on and off all the time.
This is shown on a small child and is described as extra small. My four-year-old is the size of a big five-year-old. It has a significant impact on him. I'm an orthopaedic surgeon, so I know how to apply and fit the sling.
A 9-year-old can easily put it on. Her neck was made more comfortable by the additional padding.
The item is on, but the adjustment straps are hanging because there is nowhere for them to go, and it was too small for my 6-year-old's arm.
