Questions & Answers

My son is ten years old and stands 11 inches tall from elbow to wrist. 107lbs. Should I get a child/small adult or a typical adult?

You may want to go with the average adult; I went with the child/small adult because I am 98 pounds and 5 feet tall. It was a good fit, but not too tight. It was a nice sling that was also very comfortable.

Is it possible to breathe through this sling? My current sling (from the hospital) is too hot for me because I live in a hot humid climate. ?

It was intended for my grandson, who lives in a hot, humid climate. He never expressed dissatisfaction with the temperature. I couldn't tell if it was a hot fabric or not.

Is it possible to apply this to the right arm?

Yes - It's suitable for both arms. My daughter's right arm was broken as follows:

This sling is fantastic! My grandson, who is eight years old, has a broken elbow
5/5

The sling I received from urgent care was a complete waste of time. The orthopedic office offered to write a prescription for a new one, but I declined because I knew I could get a better one for less money on Amazon. His cast extends past his elbow, and his previous sling did not adequately cover the entire cast; however, this sling did. It's also made of a stretchy cotton that gives when pulled. The strap isn't padded, but it's thicker and softer, and it didn't cause him any discomfort or redness. He doesn't like using the finger slots, so it was long enough to cover his entire cast. Velcro appears to be a long-lasting material. The only disadvantage is that it is - This is in no way a criticism of the sling; it's simply my way of life. We have four dogs, and their hair sticks to this thing like white on rice. A golden retriever is one of the dogs. It's just that because of the texture and color, dog hair clings to it right away. I'd buy it again if I had the opportunity.

It was well worth the money
5/5

It's a million times better than the one from the urgent care center! My 7-year-old broke her wrist three days ago, with the bone misaligned by 25 degrees. She was in a lot of pain and discomfort, and the urgent care sling didn't help much. It slid out of her hand as it moved around. br>br>I bought a new sling, even though she might not need it if she gets a half-arm permanent cast rather than a full-arm cast after the swelling goes down in a few days. It arrived a day ahead of schedule! I have no words to express my gratitude! br>br>This one is perfect for her arm, and it cradles it. Her neck is encircled by a soft strap. Her fingers were still too painful to slip through the inside strap, but if she just put her thumb through it, her arm doesn't slip out and stays secure in the sling. Her arm feels a lot safer and more comfortable now. I'm much more at ease now about sending her to school. br>br>Worth $14! br>br>.

This is one you should purchase
5/5

Sling is fantastic! This is one you should purchase. I tried out a couple of other slings that I bought on Amazon and had to return. This one RESISTS BEING REMOVED. The arm is cradled in this stretchy soft sling, which prevents the arm from sliding forward, and the neck strap is reasonably padded and soft. When we used it around the house, it didn't rub his neck at all, but after a long day at school, it started to irritate him, so we removed the padding from the hospital sling and replaced it. The velcro that holds it together is the best part. It has a lot of power. You only need to adjust the velcro once a day for the rest of the day. My son makes use of the thumb loop, which makes it feel more secure. It'd be fine even if you didn't use it. I was looking for a sling that he wouldn't have to deal with at school, and this one has worked out perfectly.

My 5-year-old can't wear it because it's too big
3/5

This is for my 5-year-old son, and I bought it for him. He can't wear it because it's too big. He is a good height for his age, but he is extremely frail. It's the neck strap that's at fault. It doesn't hold his arm up high enough, even if I make it as short as possible. I'm not sure if I should return it or figure out a way to make it work. br>br>The strap is padded and appears to be comfortable to wear around the neck. The fabric, on the other hand, does not appeal to me. It's cotton that I'd prefer.

A good substitute for a stiff hospital sling
4/5

For my 9-year-old to wear, I purchased this along with the company's immobilizer strap. He broke his upper humerus, but the only slings available at the hospital and orthopedist were adult smalls, which were uncomfortable. We've been using it as a daytime sling because it slides a lot more than the single unit that the hospital sent home when used with the immobilizer strap. The sling is much softer and more flexible than the one he had before, and the two hand straps that keep it in place prevent it from tearing up his hand webbing like the old one did. We've been wearing the sling for almost a month now, and the Velcro is still in perfect working order, so I'm pleased with my purchase and would recommend it.

Amazing - This book comes highly recommended
5/5

My son was given a sling at the hospital, but it was uncomfortable and his arm kept sliding out after a few minutes. He had to adjust it on a regular basis. His arm stays put in this new sling, which is fantastic. My only criticism is that, despite its softness, it scratched his neck, so we replaced it with the next padding from the hospital sling and the problem was solved. It appears to be on the small side. Because he weighs around 30 pounds, the charts recommend the toddler size; however, because that was not available, we bought the small size, which was perfect.

The best sling for children's arms! I don't usually leave product feedback, but this one was so good that I couldn't help myself
5/5

My 7-year-old daughter broke her upper arm bone in a playground accident a few days ago. Because our bones were well aligned, the doctor did not put us in a cast and instead advised us to wear a sling for six weeks. 8 weeks. All of the slings we tried, including those obtained in an emergency room or at a specialized bone and joint clinic, failed to immobilize her arm, and her arm continued to slip out of it at all times; additionally, the smallest size available was still too large for her. In addition, the length of velcro on a strap on all of these was insufficient to shorten the strap in order to raise her arm higher. I decided to do some research in order to find a better solution for a small fractured arm, and boy, was I surprised! I ordered both a sling and an immobilizer, and as soon as I opened the box, I knew it was the one for me! It is extremely soft, and the arm/elbow fits perfectly inside; there is also a special place for the thumb, which prevents the arm from moving out of it, and the fabric is so cushy that my daughter doesn't even realize she has something on her arm. The immobilizer secures her arm/elbow in place perfectly, and the size is just right, as if it were custom-made for her. Once she starts school, I won't be concerned that she will struggle to keep the sling on her arm or that she will accidentally move it away from her body. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to any parent looking for the best sling or immobilizer for their child.

I really liked how this sling could be adjusted all the way around
5/5

When my son broke his collarbone, he used this sling. It was a clean snap when he was seven, and the hospital-grade adult sling wasn't up to the task. I liked how this sling could be adjusted all the way down the strap and how the velcro never lost its "velcroyness. " " It felt a lot better around his neck - There will be no more redness! It was so soft, my son couldn't believe it! His elbow was kept in place thanks to the hook for his hand/thumb. We were extremely pleased with our purchase and have already lent it to a friend. With the Joslin Swathe Immobilizer Strap, we were able to use it.
