3/4" diameter is about the size of the pole. The metal structure is about 6 feet tall and cheap. Do not get close, the rackets will break in no time.
The string should be tied Trying to picture what a hook looks like. It should be ready to go, you just need to wind it down the spiral part of the pole until it reaches the middle (the opposite end where the ball is not attached) then grasp the end of the ball and get ready to spin it! You'll want to watch out since it may fly off the pole (the string and ball) when it reaches the top of the spiral.
Pushing the pole into the ground requires you to step on the circle at the bottom of the pole

It is a real disappointment. A similar one I had as a kid lasted for a very long time. We got this as a Christmas present for my children, but it has a few issues. Not very stable, needs reseting periodically. As a result, the ball came off and that is the end of the game. As the string guide on top has rusted and sticks, ball and cord just wrap themselves around each other so that it is pretty much useless to a point where the ball fell off and it is not rooted I am disappointed. Taking the money and getting bean bag toss can at least teach my kids a valuable life skill would be better.
I bought it for my grandson, and he absolutely loves it. The product is great - I bought it for my grandson and he loves it! We used to take a set like this with us when we traveled and we took it with us everywhere we went. My problem is that the description stated it would come with a second ball just in case the first one breaks or if it gets lost, but it didn't. I also didn't find any instructions on how to tie the ball to the hook or how to start the game. As I do not know how to do that, can you send me a second ball, the instructions, and instructions on how to tie it with pool balls, if you cannot, how would I return this product so that I may order one that carries all that information.
When I was a kid, I had this game, and it literally lasted my entire childhood, despite 50,000 hits and a few dogs chewing It's not so good with this one. I'm having a hard time finding a way to tie it back on after the tennis ball flew off after three uses and it's not as easy as just drilling a hole through another one and tying it back on. Manufacturing it into a ball is the process.
My sister and I used to play a game similar to Zim Zam when we were kids. It was the closest thing we could find. It was much better with the old design to avoid tangling of the string, you have to hit it at a certain level. You can't stake the base into the ground without very soft ground or you will bend the base when you try. The price is a big reason why I am giving this only a 2 star rating. This game is at best a $20 purchase.
Some of our soil is rocky, and it has been arid. There is no real strength to it. As a result of the rocky soil, it was nearly impossible to put the stake in. As I pound the stake into the ground, the top of the piece where the stake is gets warped, so I need to use channel locks several times in order to get the next piece to fit on top of Our kids have been playing with it since we finally planted it in the ground. My first one was a lot more sturdy than this one, but the one I had as a kid was similar to this one.
My kids were thrilled when I got this swing set for them. I then got one for my niece and nephew as well. Sad to say, the ball flew off the string in no time. With my kids, I had to wait two to three days for it to come off, but with the other child it happened within one hour. I found it to be disappointing and despite rigging it multiple times, it is still not good, so we will have to look for something else to make it functional. It was so much better built and the tennis ball never came off of it like the one I had with my brother when we were growing up. When I was growing up, we used to play for hours and hit that ball so hard. The game was built so much better back then. I remember from back then when I was a teen, in the 1980s. A disappointment without a doubt. You should buy this for kids who are maybe 8 or younger. Do not make the hole bigger otherwise you will lose the ball very quickly!.
Each time a new string of balls is strung, they must be restrung. The tennis balls that my grandsons use have a lot of holes in them An anchoring device. I remember playing this game with my kids as a kid, and we called it Zim Zam. a great way for kids who are busy at home during the winter months to get some fresh air. There is a lot of strength to the pole. It is only necessary to replace the tethered balls every now and then. For those of you unwilling or unable to tether them on their own, there are some that can be purchased online. The game is great for individual play as well as for multiplayer.
To attach it to and remove it from the key ring I had to resort to a key ring Despite its slickness, it slides easily. Since the key ring comes off the key chain, pliers are required all the time. In terms of everything else, it's close to perfection.
