Questions & Answers

Can it be used on a small snake? All I want to do is remove them safely and without causing harm to ?

Then it is effective. But only if you can capture them.

What is the deal with feeding snakes frozen rats that have thawed?

We apologize for the long delay. Our internet connection has been down. Snakes are fed live mice or rats that I drop into their cages. Usually I feed them a mouse or rat every day. You can use your tongs if they are venomous but otherwise the snake will take care of it

Is this to say the lock latch will latch on to a snake and not let go where you can put the stick down and it will hold it?

Deflections of the snake are caused by the pressure you apply to If you picked it up with the tongs, then there would be no need for a stick to hold the head. There is actually no way to lock the snake into place with this latch, so it would not be a reliable way to do so. Those holding the latch could be injured by a snake of any size attempting to lock it, and those with small snakes may be able to pull through. If the latch on the lock is just a simple lever attached to a screw and not that secure, there is a question as to whether the lock would hold shut anyway. A snake problem exists in the area due to some vacant properties in the area. The number of fish I have caught is There have been 8 black rat snakes in the past few months (probably some repeats) that range from 3-4.5 feet long This is a 6-foot-long pet. I use this tongs to hold it just below the head and then transfer it into an empty trash can to take back to the It is not necessary to put a stick or get too close to the head, as they are effective.

What is the length of this item when stored/traveled? Do you think it gets shorter as it gets older?

The short answer is "no it doesn't.".

The last copperhead I caught was just a few minutes ago
5/5

I was able to catch it again) which would not have been possible otherwise. Although my heart is racing as I write this review, I thought I should write it while it is. A short version of the story is that it works on It's been a while since I've seen a poisonous snake, but I am pretty scared of copperheads now. Make sure you are prepared before you grab the item. If you find yourself holding a snake that is aggressive, you don't want to realize you have no idea what In addition to the grab, I keep a metal trash can with holes drilled in it and a tight lid next to the grabber so I can relocate the snake. There can be a fine line between too much pressure (I don't want to hurt it) and not enough pressure (the last thing I want is to accidentally drop a pissed off poisonous snake nearer to me than it started), but that is the way As far as I can tell, that cannot The system works, though. It wasn't easy getting a snake to cooperate with me, but the good news is that the snake is focused on what you're shoving in its face, and not the person holding it on the other end who's standing far away. I hope so. The short time has sometimes made me wish it was longer because I'm scared of snake bites, but so far, catching snakes has been a lot easier than I expected.

Good design, but there were some manufacturing flaws
4/5

The barrel end of my tongs had the locking pawl in such a position that it was impossible to open. When the pawl was locked, it would not separate from the lock. The screw that held the mechanism in place had to be removed to allow the mechanism to function. Because it is too long to move into the locked position, the locking pawl won't work. Due to the fact that the screw needs to be left loose in order for the pawl to move, this design was never supposed to work. The screw is not free to move if you tighten it. As well as cleaning up the sharp edges on the jaws, I also cleaned the teeth. There was a risk of injury to a snake from these. I saw the jaws & the skull It appears that the handles are not aligned properly, but that doesn't affect the ability to operate. The reviews here go back over a year and I see complaints of the same problems, so it's obvious to me that the company does not intend to fix the problem. The attached photo serves to illustrate the orientation of the lock arm when the grip is fully compressed. Because of the length of the arm and its awkward position, the arm will not swing into the proper position If the screw is not loose enough, then it cannot be moved. Here's what's new It is imperative that this seller makes me happy and provides me with the products that I need There has been a lot of response from them. They have offered to replace my tongs My report on a number of issues seems to have concerned them deeply.

This is a decently made product, but it has a major I really love how the unit was designed, and how well it was Unfortunately, this is where the problem lies It has a latch for grabs and holds
3/5

There are only two possible positions for latching the jaws The closure of that is complete and tight. There is a possibility that the latch will not close when there is something in the mouth, such as a snake, stick, etc. It is very easy for the snake to get away if you accidentally let go of his grip. Take a look It is not possible to latch the grip of this device once a snake is in its mouth/teeth. In addition, in order to latch the lock, you must squeeze very hard to place it in the right position to catch the latch. It's scary to think that one day I may have to pull too hard and pull the swedge attachment completely free from the wire. It is likely that the snake will escape and that you will be injured.

The best way to describe this is light
5/5

is a really cool thing! It has been on my wish list for a while, but a snake tried to crawl under my house so I had to turn it down. It was impossible for me to grab him with my shovel, and he continued walking. In order to be ready for the future, I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on this now. It happens four to five times a year that a snake and I cross paths, so we'll see if I can even reach Then again, I'm not running into snakes every day, but it would be nice to have one, and maybe useful someday. *UPDATE-I used this to capture a snake yesterday that my wife almost stepped on when I used it. The snake slithered through it for almost the entire length of time before I could hold him down. Given that he was a small snake, and that I grabbed him near his tail, I anticipated that he would be too small for the tongs to grasp him. The figure I figured wrong turned out to be incorrect. It held on to him well once the tongs grabbed him. As long as I had control over him, I could get rid of him without harm.

I like the way it is Unlike other rods, the control rod runs inside the pole, so that debris won't catch it
4/5

The quality of the product is good I would be able to handle any snake that I come this close to if I had the chance. It is not possible for me to move a snake yourself if it is too large. The object's purpose is to hold on to and catch Despite its wide padded jaws and spring loaded jaws, it is not one of the devices made to be snake-friendly. Despite its lightweight design, it is surprisingly strong and well made. The level of force with which you squeeze the handle must be kept to a minimum if you want to be kind and gentle to the snakes. Rather than being required to hold the snake in one hand, I prefer to have complete control over it. The snake does not need to be extremely aggressive and nasty for me to grasp as firmly as I feel the situation requires, but when it is being aggressive and nasty, I want to be able to grip as firmly as I feel In forging ahead, I don't think I want to hurt the snakes, but I want to be able to grasp as strongly as necessary to avoid getting hurt. The following information is not the opinion of There is just one thing I need to do to remove these guys from my home.

Despite its lightweight nature, the metal seems sturdy and the product overall appears to be of high quality
4/5

We picked this up since my wife said she would stop hiking with me if I didn't have a stick or tool to deal with snakes (we came across a rattle snake while hiking through a steep bank). I feel the metal on the product is sturdy and it seems to be a high-quality product. have not yet used it on the trail, but at 52 inches, the length is about the same as I need, and that will probably make it awkward to carry. We like how firm the grasping mechanism is and how easy it is One problem with the locking mechanism is that it is not user-friendly. There are several problems with this portion it has poor design and a blank layout A functional term. I will see if I can rewrite what I have already written Although you might have to "engineer" it to make it usable, the tool should nonetheless do the job well enough so that it can safely grasp and move snakes.
