Questions & Answers

Is it possible to put them in the freezer?

Yes, based on my personal experience. However, whether you use them in the freezer or not, you must make certain that the bag is properly sealed. sealed. I didn't realize I wasn't properly closing the zipper when I first started using these, and I assumed the bags and handheld pump didn't maintain their vacuum.

Is it possible to use a manual hand pump with these?

I use them in conjunction with a Ziploc manual hand pump.

Is it possible to vacuum seal these bags?

Yes. Food Saver produces an attachment that can be used with both large and handheld units. "The FoodSaver® Vacuum Zipper Bag Adapter is specifically designed for the FoodSaver® Zipper Bags to be used with FoodSaver® heat seal, full size vacuum appliances," according to their website. It easily attaches to the end of the accessory hose, allowing air to escape through the FoodSaver® Vacuum Zipper Bag's valve. You can now vacuum seal fridge and pantry foods like deli meats and cheeses in the New FoodSaver® Quart or Gallon size Vacuum Zipper Bags with your FoodSaver® heat seal appliance. "br>I haven't ordered the attachment yet, but will do so soon, so I can't comment on its performance. I'm going to order one to go with my Gamesaver.

Purchase a heavy-duty packing tape roll
3/5

Great concept, but the tiny valve fails to hold vacuum at least half of the time. I also discovered that getting the bag to work in the first place was often difficult. It took several attempts for my pump to begin sucking the air out. Even if it worked at first, there's a good chance it won't hold a vacuum if you use it again. I had a roll of heavy-duty packing tape on the counter and decided to use a piece to seal the valve after the pump had stopped working. It was a great success. I cut a piece about 1 1/2 inches long, fold over one edge to make a tag for later removal, and fasten it to the pump as soon as I move it. With this addition, I'll be able to reuse bags more easily. Packing tape (heavy duty) is a lot easier to work with than duct tape, and it's been working well so far.

Expectations are high, but they aren't fulfilled
3/5

It's a fantastic concept. Put everything in a zip lock bag, create a vacuum with the small vacuum device, and you're done! It's a lot better than having to take out the entire Foodsaver system. These things aren't going to work. It stays sealed for several minutes the first time you use it, and subsequent seals only last a few seconds. We frequently use our FoodSaver unit, which we adore, and were looking for a quick replacement, but this clearly falls short. Unfortunately, we bought a few of the packs and are stuck with them because we only started using them after a few months of owning them. If you feel compelled to try these (as I did), don't order more than one pack because you'll be stuck with them.

It's a fantastic product that's also very cost effective
5/5

This system and these bags have been in my possession for the past two months. It appeals to me. I read reviews before purchasing it because I have a small kitchen and was unsure about this type of setup versus the larger heat-and-serve models. system with a lock THIS WORKS MUCH BETTER THAN I HAD EXPECTED FROM THE REVIEWS. br>br>I put an open sandwich bag (unsealed) inside a vacuum bag, seal it, and vacuum it. As a result, every single one of my bags has remained perfectly sealed thus far (I got the idea from a review). Cheese, meat, and vegetables such as cut onions and cucumbers are among the items I keep in my refrigerator: I try anything that comes to mind. It truly keeps things fresh for a longer period of time. It's ideal for someone like me who forgets what's in the refrigerator until later. There will be no more mystery! It was a great time! br>br>I added these bags to my subscription list. So far, I've had to cancel two months' worth of orders because they're taking much longer than I anticipated.

a complete waste of money I'm changing my rating from one to four stars because I've reconsidered my negative review now that I've used the last of my bags for current pantry items and am satisfied with them
4/5

Some people claim they don't work in the freezer; I haven't tried that method, but when I seal them, they seem to work perfectly, as long as I don't use powders like flour or powdered mil (my previous negative review was due to disappointment with the sealing of such dry goods). I wouldn't use the bags for those kinds of things. br>br>After reading another reviewer's comment that they leak occasionally, I decided to add an extra layer of protection by taping a piece of duct tape over the hole. That ought to suffice. My conscience has been cleansed!.

These bags work very well; however, the customer service is terrible
5/5

It took several attempts for Food Saver's customer service to respond to my inquiry about their freezer use. Yes, you can store them in the freezer. I've used and re-used a number of times. I put the bags in the freezer to use later. However, good luck if you have any additional questions for Food Saver. I haven't asked a straightforward question in over a month. They began by inquiring about their Meal Saver device, which I also use. They inquired again after I responded. And once more. I have yet to receive a response.

Work is excellent
5/5

I keep these in the fridge for perishable foods that deteriorate over time, such as cheese. These open and close like regular zipper bags, but they're made to let air out using the FoodSaver's accessory suction nozzle. Cheese will keep for several months with little mold growth if you use these. I can also open and close the container as I eat. These are very effective. Over-all, I can get by with just one bag. and-over. As a result, the price of the bags is significantly reduced. I've learned to label them with masking tape so that I can change the contents and labeling (after the bag has been washed and dried). br>However, there is one caveat: not wet- Suitable for eating. Liquid and air are sucked out of the bag and into the nozzle. So; Unless you can partially freeze the item first, this method is best for low moisture foods. br>Recommend.

A subpar product that is currently grossly overpriced
3/5

On Amazon, the price of these has risen exponentially for some reason. They were around $0 when I first purchased them. 14/bag. They've been reduced to zero. Even when purchased as a subscribe and save item, the bag costs $91 per bag. Other sites sell it for a dollar. 50/bag. They can be used with any handheld vacuum pump that fits over the vacuum valve, as well as the countertop Foodsaver machine, but they have a high failure rate, with as many as four failures per unit. 5/18, and after one use, they're worthless in terms of vacuum bags. I still have some of the similarly constructed Ziploc bags, which are far superior, rarely fail, and can often be reused multiple times after being washed. When using these bags with wet items, make sure the vacuum is turned off before the liquid gets to the valve. When you pull liquid through a valve, it breaks down and leaks. Because of the high failure rate and the high price, I would not recommend this product.

When it works, it's great, but quart bags have a high failure rate
3/5

I like the food saver pump and vacuum bags, but with a 30 - 40 pound weight limit, I can't use them. Because of the 40% failure rate on the quart size bags not staying sealed rate, I can only give the product two stars. In terms of the pump itself, I like that it's rechargeable and that it vacuums out the bags fairly quickly. It's also a pleasure to hold and operate. br>br> I ordered these bags to help my friends and I prepare for a long camping trip. I made 20 pounds of beef jerky and used the food saver to seal it. All of the bags would initially vacuum and seal but 30 to 40% of them lost seal and allowed air to come into the bag after a few minutes 30 to 40 of% br>br> When I examined the bags that had failed, I noticed that the zipper portion of the bags had a series of small punctures, which I assume were made during the manufacturing process but caused the bag to fail. These small raised punctures were not present in any of the bags that remained sealed. I've attached a photo of the issue below in the hopes that the manufacturer will be able to fix it. This type of puncture is easy to feel but difficult to see.
