Do you know how the 4840 differs from the 4440?

The positioning of the buttons is the only difference between the V4440 and V4840 models. They are identical in terms of features and functions.

Has this model overheated and needed to be turned off to cool down before it could be used again?

If you're sealing a lot of bags quickly, the seal heater will need to cool down for a few seconds every now and then. However, after 5 - 10 minutes, the seal heater will be fine. You have 10 seconds to start over. I've never had to turn off the Foodsaver by itself. We use it in large quantities as well. I just finished buying and dividing $450 worth of meat for the freezer.

What are the recommended roll and bag sizes?

We recommend using 8" and 11" rolls, but you can also use a variety of bag sizes with this FoodSaver.

Hi - Is it possible to use this method with wet or juicy foods?

For optimal sealing, this vacuum sealer has a moist/dry food setting that adjusts the seal level for a secure, reliable, and airtight seal. When vacuum sealing meats and/or fish with a lot of juices, we recommend pre-vacuum sealing them with any FoodSaver model. Meats and fish should be frozen for one to two weeks. 2 hours before vacuum packaging in a FoodSaver Bag to ensure that juices and shape are retained and a good seal is achieved. Place the individual pieces on a cookie sheet and freeze for 1 - 2 hours when making individual portions. Remove the frozen food from the freezer after 2 hours; Place in a FoodSaver Bag and vacuum seal. seal.

I've had FoodSaver vacuum sealers for more than 20 years, and I've had the same model for the majority of that time. It was past time for me to replace my FoodSaver, so I began looking for a newer model that would meet my requirements. I thought this model might be the one based on the description and reviews, and that it might be better than my previous model. Although this model takes longer to vacuum seal foods than my previous model, it does take up less counter space, which is a plus. br>br>My first project with this sealer was packaging basmati brown rice that I cooked in bulk and used in multiple meals. - br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- br It is possible to prepare the bags ahead of time - one end is sealed and the other is cut Compared to my old sealer, this method used a lot more roll bags. There was about a half-inch of space between the seal and the ground.
- Putting the finishing touches on the After filling the bags, it took a lot longer to get the machine to grab the ends of the bags, and there was a lot more waste of the bag because it took another 1/2" to get the machine to sense the bag.
- The problem with this sealer was the same as with my previous one. If you make seals too quickly, they will need to cool down before you can make another.
- I later discovered that some of the bags had air in them after they froze, despite the fact that I had sealed them all. Even with my old sealer, I never had this problem. br>br>I returned this vacuum sealer because it made the job more difficult and time consuming, and the seals were not very good. It was a no-brainer for me. I do not recommend this sealer because it is a deal breaker. I hope you found this review to be useful.

NO, I don't think so. YES. First and foremost. For decades, I've used a variety of vacuum sealers. This is my first automatic type, and it's called 'clamshell. ' The sealer is primarily used to freeze meat and seal cheese. I purchase large cryopaks when purchasing meat. My first use of this FoodSaver was when I bought a chunk of boneless ribeye weighing nearly 20 pounds and cut my own steaks for less than $6 per pound (local grocery store was 22 dollars per pound and thin steaks) and a 5 pound brick of sharp cheddar cheese that I cut down to 1 pound blocks. These are the quantities of meat and cheese that I always buy. PROS: br>br>
- It's a vacuum sealer, to be precise. br> It's compatible with other brands of bags. (two 50-foot rolls were purchased)br>- I didn't have any issues with it sealing properly, and I only had a couple of issues with it vacuuming (which I was able to stop - Activate the power switch- br>-(before it was sealed)-(before it was sealed)-(before it was sealed) It has a handheld vacuum port, which is my favorite feature. It's ideal for vacuum bags that are ziplock-style. (Previously, I had to rummage through a drawer to locate the battery-operated vacuum pump - I eat a lot of cheddar cheese and use ziplock type bags to repackage the block of cheese and vacuum seal it before putting it back in the fridge. 'Hard spots' on cheese are no longer an issue - Air irritates cheddar cheesebr>- It works on its own. Simply place the bag in the slot and wait for it to be snatched up. My old clamshell one required me to double-check that the vacuum port was in the bag before closing the cover and hoping that the port remained in the bag. CONS: br>br>
- It squanders a significant portion of the bag. If the item in the bag is thick, you'll need a lot of 'tail' to ensure that it fits evenly in the slot. br>- There is no way to double-seal the bagbr>- Slow. It takes a long time to suction out the air, and it takes even longer to seal. It's fine for occasional use, but it gets annoying quickly if you're doing large batches (much slower than the clamshell one it replaces)br>- After 3 seals (light flashes), the sealing element appears to overheat, shutting down the unit. I used to use my clamshell sealer to make a bunch of bags, then fill them and vacuum seal them. Work around the problem - assemble two bags a single - It should be vacuum sealed - a third bag should be made - second bag should be filled - continue. This way, you'll only use the sealer twice in a row, and it'll cool down while you're filling and vacuuming a bag.
- Vacuum cleaner with a handle - Though this is my favorite feature of this model, it has a valve (you can see a white plunger through the clear part) that closes as you vacuum something, and you won't realize it most of the time. As far as I'm concerned, I was vacuuming a bag, expecting it to suck in more air, but the valve had closed without my knowledge. As a result, I'm standing there like a moron, wondering when it'll be over. Turning off the machine and tapping on the attachment to get the plunger to drop back down is the only way to get this valve open again. OVERALL: br>br> br>With this model, I'm pleased. After decades of using the clamshell type, I appreciate the automatic feature of this, and the sealer now sits on my counter rather than in a cupboard, allowing it to be used more frequently. My main complaints are that it is much slower than my old clamshell model and that it overheats much more quickly than the one it replaced, but it is adequate for occasional use - It's only when working in large batches that this becomes a problem. Also, a lot of the 'bags' are wasted - I got two 50-foot rolls for a great deal and they worked just as well as FoodSaver rolls. The only disadvantage is that they do not fit into the bag roll holder/cutter, but given the price difference, I am willing to overlook this. I really like the handheld attachment (I use it almost every day), but the valve in it is a pain, so if you're using it and it doesn't seem to be working, check the valve. Simply make sure the plunger valve is closed. I bought this a few days before going to the butcher. I even kept the box it came in, which is something I never do. but I know I should) so that I could return it if it wasn't up to par. In the end, I decided to keep it. The handheld portion is the selling point for me, despite the fact that it is much slower than my much cheaper clamshell sealer and wastes a lot of bags. It only got through about ten bags before giving up. It creates a good vacuum and then comes to a halt. Then it clicks, releasing the vacuum both visibly and audibly, and lightly sealing the air-filled bag about a second later. The seal is easily ripped open by me. br>br>I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer. I received an email from a third party promising that I would be contacted within three days. It's been two weeks since that happened. The product is terrible, and the customer service is non-existent. Change the brand you're using.

Please hear me out. br>br>When we first use the machine, it does a good job of sealing the first open end of the "roll of bags. " When we turn the bag around to seal the "second" end, it does not "vacuum seal" the bag because it does not suck enough air out. br>br>If we unplug the unit for 30 minutes, it might work once or twice, but it will eventually stop working. A demonstration of the unit's capabilities can be found in the video below. br>br>It's not something I'd buy again.

I've tried several times to use this machine, including with the jar-sealing attachment. It's fantastic when it works. However, I'd estimate that it takes about a quarter of the time, and I'm having trouble sealing the bags. which was included with it The performance left me feeling a little let down.

From the beginning, this Foodsaver has been an issue. I should have returned it right away, but I convinced myself that it was just a fluke and that everything would be fine in the end. What the hell was I thinking? I had some issues with it sucking air out at first. It would work fine for the first two bags, but the third bag would seal with all of the air inside. It only happened on occasion. I had no idea what to expect, and I could sometimes seal five or six bags without difficulty. Only one or two people will be present the next time. I read every troubleshooting guide and blog I could get my hands on. For a few months, everything was fine. I got it out today to seal two frozen casseroles, and it won't even seal when I'm putting the bags together! What a colossal squander of cash. This is the second (and final) Foodsaver I've ever made. The quality has gotten a lot worse.
