Most sealer bags should work with it, according to my knowledge. These are my favorites because they are more durable than other options.

Is it possible to use them as a boiling water substitute? in bag?

Yes, that is possible.

What is the approximate number of bags? It says 50 in one place and 20 in another. ?

A quantity of 50 pre-cut bags was delivered to me.

This is my first time doing it. Do these bags self-seal, or will I need to purchase a sealer as well? Is this a must? thx?

The bags do not close themselves. A sealer is required for use with these.

These are fantastic bags. My vacuum sealer worked well with the weight and my vacuum sealer worked well with the weight. I'm going to buy more.

It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's well worth it It's BPA-free and durable, so I use it all the time for freezing meat in bulk and sous vide
