Oerla employs low-cost Kydex, which performs admirably until exposed to extreme heat. Mine began to lose the knife while I was in Colorado, where the temperature was around 100 degrees. In addition, leaving it in a hot car causes the Kydex to deform completely, rendering the sheath useless. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that they deform at 135 degrees Fahrenheit. In 90-degree weather, a car can do it while you're out grocery shopping.
No, in Illinois, the blade must be less than 3 inches.
You'll have to look up that information about your state's laws on the internet. It's legal where I live, in Kentucky. The laws are usually determined by the size of the blade.
I carry a horizontal knife on each side of my belt buckle, and the OerLa TAC DK-S is the best knife I've found in this size. The knife is a version of the 0013 with a smaller grip that hangs down a little. 2 oz. less and 0 oz. less It's 74 ounces lighter now. 23 on weight and *% on length savings I'm wearing big gloves, and my nearly 80-year-old mother is with me. year- Over the course of 60 years of MS, old nerves and muscles haven't fared well. 43 years of computer abuse, but only a sliver of DK's grip remains. I have enough to hold on to at 13 years old. The grip has a lot of aggressive texturing as well. Printing will be much less likely with the shorter, smaller grip. br>br>I use leather, elastic, and Velcro to keep the knife in its Kydex sheath much closer to my belt than any adjustable device can. The handle of the knife is the part that tries to print. Printing is also aided by a more downward and thinner grip. The 13 knife's design is one of my favorites. Your decision may differ, as it always does.

They promised to send a replacement, but never contacted me to let me know when or where it would be delivered. It's unclear whether or not it was shipped. The cheap sheath makes me wish I had gone with a Gerber or Schrade now that I have to replace parts just to use the knife. br>br>I've always owned mid- to low-grade knives and consider them an important tool. Ka-Schrade, Schrade This is by far the most beautiful, sharpest, and best value of any knife I have ever owned, including bar, Camillus, Cold Steel, Gerber, and others. First and foremost, it comes out of the box RAZOR SHARP. It will shave the hair from your arm without causing any irritation. The entire edge is even all the way around, and the overall craftsmanship is outstanding. The knife is large and heavy, with a thick blade. It's not only a tank, but it's also quite attractive. If the steel is 420HC, it should keep a good edge for a long time, so I'll report back once I've had a chance to try it out in the field. The sheath is nice, but I wish there were more screws for the clip, but that's not a big deal. It can be adjusted in any direction and holds the knife firmly in place. It won't fall out of the sheath because it doesn't have any play. In the end, you won't find a better knife with a molded sheath for less than $30, even if it dulls easily. I was on the fence about buying this knife for about three months, but now I'm sold on the company. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Due to the belt clip, I deducted a star. It's inexpensive, but both the spacers and the lock are missing after only two weeks. It now just bounces around on my belt, and if I bump it just right, the clip opens and the sheath tries to fall off. The knife itself is excellent, as is the molded sheath, but the belt clip is a shambles. It didn't come with any spare parts, so if one of the two screws breaks, you'll have to look for similar screws at Home Depot. This knife could easily be an $80 knife if the belt clip was upgraded.
I am a knife collector with over 800 knives, and I can honestly say that this knife is among my top five! They have a video on this knife and I tried every thing they did with this knife and it is 100% true! I used it to rip our phone book to shreds, cutting all the way through. I've chopped wood and opened a steel can, and my knife is still as sharp as when I first got it, NO JOKE! This knife is extremely durable, and I would put it up against my $500 knives. The craftsmanship is out of this world. This knife's value is more than fair; when I compare it to my $500 knives, I would pay ten times as much for it; it holds up to a $500 knife and is extremely durable and sturdy. It's with me on all of my trips and at work. During the workday, I rely on a good knife, and this is my knife. The packaging was incredible; they spent a lot of money making sure your knife was packaged and sent to you securely. Without writing a book, I can't express how much I love this knife. There are ten stars all around. Thank you so much for the fantastic knife!.
Right out of the box, the knife is razor sharp. The finish is a little blotchy, but that's to be expected at this price point. It looks like it's a compound grind. The lower blade has a hollow grind, while the upper part has a thicker flat grind and the middle has a saber sweep. It's a beautiful knife, but I'm not sure how they're able to do so many different grinds because changing the grinding wheels is expensive. I'll update this review once I've tested the knife. The tip of the sabre isn't aligned with the sabre sweep. It's off by an eighth of an inch. The blade tip is more likely to break as a result of this. I cut three oak tree branches that were two inches in diameter. Walking staffs are something I'm working on. It was a piece of cake for this knife. The blade hasn't dulled yet. The blade hasn't been harmed in any way. This is an excellent purchase.
I gave it three stars because I would give the knife a five-star rating, especially for the price, but I would give the sheath a one-star rating. br>The knife itself was excellent; it arrived razor sharp and felt great in my hand; however, the sheath was a disappointment. I didn't think it'd hold the knife securely enough for my needs. You'll be fine if you're going to wear it vertically all the time. However, while the sheath has several canting options, canting the blade is not one of them unless you want it to fall out.
The knife itself is well-made, has a nice edge, and is the ideal length for EDC, which I've been doing since I got it. br>br>The sheath does a good job of holding the blade in place, but the adjustment options aren't as good as I'd like. There's no way to line up the locks so that the knife can be held at an angle in the small of the back where it's easy to reach back and pull without poking you in the back while you're sitting in the truck. The left bottom and right middle locks are required, but the only way to align them is to place the knife at the very tip of the sheath, causing the belt to flip over due to the weight of the knife. As a result, instead of hugging your body, the knife flaps about as you walk. It works, but not as well as I'd like it to. I locked it to the middle row right and left and used my belt loop to help secure it.
I was a little hesitant to order this knife after reading some of the other reviews, but it arrived a day ahead of schedule. The tip has a good point and is sharpened on both sides, which I didn't expect. Has a nice weight to it and feels very sturdy out of the box, with a decent edge on the blade, the clip is adjustable for angle of carry which is the main thing I was looking for, for a sideways carry, seems a little cheap so we'll see how it holds up being pulled in and out, as well as how well the blade holds up. However, based on my initial impressions, I believe it will be able to withstand some abuse. If it has any strange flaws or suddenly snaps or something like that, it's definitely worth a shot for the price for anyone looking for a cheaper knife. I'll keep you up to date.
Nice size and weight, the sheath is slim but is ruined by a belt attachment that protrudes an inch. The metal 420HC has a questionable hardness. The "saw" blade is more akin to a serrated blade than a saw blade. I'm not going to use this for anything.
