Questions & Answers

Is this a Chinese or American-made knife?

Is it true that everything is made in China? I was under the impression that this knucklehead was the one who created the blades.... Fkn liar

Is there a way to carry it upside down from Pals/ Molle webbing that anyone recommends? Is it possible to use only 550 cord or small zip ties?

There are 550 cord holes on it, and it comes with a fo- This is the best way to tie a 550 cord around your neck. However, do not carry it with the hilt down as the manufacturer intended. The knife will quickly fall out, and depending on where you put it, you will either lose it or have it stab you. The sheath is fine for everyday civilian use, but I've already lost two of them. Put it in any environment, such as hunting or worse, deployment, and it will vanish in a matter of seconds.

What is the length of the knife's handle?

It appeals to me. Right now, I'm wearing it around my neck. I weigh 300 pounds and stand 6'1" tall. It has a 2.25 inch diameter and feels fantastic in my hand. 1 in. 5Cr15MoV steel bowie blade with hand-contoured resin and fiber handle and braided fob The total length of the piece is 5. 13 in. There is also a 2. 5 in. Sheath made of glass and nylon. ATTRIBUTES Blade Specification: Length of plain blade (inches): Material of 125 Blade: Carry System for 5Cr15MoV Material of the Neck Lanyard Handle: Micarta (inches) Overall Length

Is the knife well-retained in the sheath (no accidental knife loss) for both clip and neck carry? Is it able to maintain this level of retention in the long run?

During the few months I had it, I carried it every day. I've swum with it and it's held up well after a few rope swings in the water. However, keep your bluff jumping to a maximum of 10 feet; I went for 12 feet. I'm looking for a new one because I jumped 15 feet into the water. The kydex material holds up well over time; I've made several holsters out of it and can confidently say that this sheath will not give up without a fight.

Neck knives are one of my favorite things
5/5

I purchased this knife because I work on a farm and needed something sturdy, well-made, and compact. I really like neck knives, but I'm not a big fan of folding blades. A real knife, in my opinion, is a fixed blade, and this knife comes in a variety of blade styles. I chose the Bowie blade because it is so versatile, and the price of $23 is unbeatable. I thought I was getting a black handled knife when I saw the picture, but it's actually a black and green handle. My knife must have been a display because one side is completely different from the other, or is that how it's supposed to be? It has no bearing on the way it feels or is held. Although it is sharp out of the box, I recommend sharpening it with a stone. Despite the handle issue, I gave it 5 stars. If you hunt, work on a ranch or farm, or simply want a cool knife to wear around your neck, this is the knife to get. The only drawback I have with this knife is the tiny little lanyard on the end, which I find useless. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> At the farm, I wear it around my neck every day. I've found it to be extremely useful in a variety of situations. I've included some images so you can see what I'm talking about when I say "handle. " I wish the creator of this knife would create a larger version that could be used as a neck and waist knife.

I really want to give it 5 stars now that it's been two years
3/5

if there was a way to use the belt loop I truly wish I could give this five stars. This is the perfect size and weight for a horizontal belt carry for weapon retention or general outdoor activities. I bought mine as a backup weapon in case someone tried to take my handgun away from me. This method necessitates the use of a small, controllable knife mounted on the off hand's belt, and this knife is ideal. It's the sheath that's causing a problem. A typical belt measures 1. 25 inches wide. I couldn't get mine to be 5 inches wide because I couldn't get it to be 1. To fit this, you'll need a 5 riggers belt, which is quite thin. The opening appears to be about 1 inch wide. 3/8" - a quarter inch wide CRKT, do you have another 1/8" of kydex lying around? br>br>I came up with my own solution, using the belt loop as a guide and making a leather replacement loop. My belt is now a perfect fit. br>br>2018 updatebr>Ok, after carrying and using this knife almost every day for over two years, I have to deduct one more star from the rating. But why? This blade's edge retention is terrible! It comes out of the box razor sharp, and I have a few stitches as a result of using it, but they don't last long. I find this knife to be frequently dull, indicating that the steel is of poor quality. Although these knives are not as inexpensive as Gerber knives, the lack of edge retention is disappointing. I'm going to experiment with the drop point version to see how it works. Even though I gave it three stars, it is a $20 knife, so I don't expect the steel to be as good as my $400 knife, but something a little better would be nice. If CRKT made this with better steel, some nice carbon steel, and some extra belt options, I would gladly pay 50-100 dollars for it. It'll set you back $75.

It was an unexpected delight
5/5

A nice neck lanyard with breakaways for safety. br>The knife itself has a nice lanyard. br>The handle is very nice. br>The knife is securely held in the sheath. br>It comes with a belt clip. br>The edge of the blade sharpens. br>This small knife offers a lot of bang for your buck. br>One regret: because this is a neck knife, it's like your last hope (it's a good tool), you'll probably need or want to use a ferro rod because the spine isn't sharp enough to generate any spark. The only drawback is that I had to slick it up with a ceramic chef rod, which really tuned it up. And where did I get the ceramic from? br>Of course, Amazon. If you're looking for a unique way to.

For fishing, camping, or a sense of security, this is a great little knife to have
5/5

While I enjoy a good folding pocket knife, I've found that I use my CRKT for the majority of my daily tasks. This is my second minimalist Bowie, which I'm ordering for my fiance, who (not so subtly) keeps trying to steal mine!br>As a preface, I'd like to laugh at everyone who complains about the paint job. The "wear" on the handle isn't due to the fact that you purchased a used item. If you looked at the product photo before purchasing it, you'd notice that it's a hand or shoddy knife. br>As someone who spends a lot of time in the woods and likes to have a knife on her person, I was given the minimalist Bowie a little over a year ago. I've used a lot of neck knives over the years because I think women's pockets are evil and untrustworthy. br>I've taken this thing swimming in both salt and fresh water, and I wear it most days when I'm doing field work, walking, or running, and it's a great little companion (clean your knives after salt water exposure!). These are razor-sharp right out of the box, and they fit perfectly in the sheath. The paracord necklace is adjustable, which is a nice bonus. I can make it shorter for when I'm swimming and don't want it flopping around (or tie it around a belt loop and tuck it into my pocket), or longer for better concealment under clothing. br>The texture and grip on the handle are both very appealing to me. I have small hands, so the grip is perfect for me, and it fits like a glove in my hand. Both wet and dry use will benefit from the texture. br>I recommend this knife to almost all of my outdoor-loving coworkers and colleagues, and they're always impressed with the quality, design, and ergonomics.

The blade is quite nice
5/5

Hopefully, you're not as stupid as me and don't cut your thumb open five minutes after taking it out of the box. I drew the blade from the sheath with my thumb in the wrong spot, giving myself a nasty cut because I'm not used to rounded blades. Good news: Because the blade is razor-sharp, the wound should heal quickly with a clean cut. Straight blades are how I'm accustomed to thinking. br>br>BTW, if slicing my thumb wasn't enough proof, a sharpness test involving slicing the edge of printer paper reveals that this blade is frighteningly sharp. It's the most razor-sharp blade I've ever seen. br>br>This page has been updated to show my carry technique. I wanted to wear it on my belt without displaying it openly, so I carry it upside down with the handle slipping into my jeans pocket. I can remove my black belt and black holster with one hand, whereas if I carry in my pocket and don't want to show it, I need two hands to retrieve it.
