Questions & Answers

Is there a limit to how much 12lb mono it can hold?

The C- If you're going to use such thick diameter line, a larger size reel is recommended. 30 will only hold about 80 yards of 12lb mono.

I have a 9-foot ugly stik rod that I intend to use for catfishing as well as saltwater fishing. Would the c-rod be suitable? Is 55 a good number?

The C- A 55 is a good size, but if you're using straight mono, I'd recommend a 65 or even an 80 for more line capacity.

What is the best way to tighten the collapsible handle?

I believe all you have to do now is tighten the knob on the opposite side of the reel.

I would not buy Okuma again because of the defective product and the lack of customer service
3/5

After being content with a C-, I decided to try something new. I ordered a C- for a year at $30. I gave it to my son as a birthday present, but he didn't use it. After a few weeks, I finally got around to winding the line, only to discover it was defective (see photo). I gave it a one-star rating because of this, but I know they can make a good spinning reel most of the time, and no one is perfect; it was my fault for not testing it within the Amazon return period. br>br>So I contacted Okuma Customer Service to inquire about the possibility of replacing C-. 40 of which were defective right out of the box. No one picked up after being on hold for 32 minutes at 11 a. m. That's a minus two or three stars for total indifference to the customer and rudeness. I will never purchase another item from Okuma.

This was not at all what I had anticipated
5/5

For trout fishing, I used this reel in conjunction with an Okuma ultra lite rod. I was taken aback by the size of the reel when I first opened the box. I mostly use Shimano reels and am familiar with their sizes (500, 1000, 2500, and so on). Since this was advertised as a 10 size, I was expecting something similar to a Shimano 1000 size, but was pleasantly surprised when the Okuma 10 was nearly identical in size to the Shimano 500 size. I nearly returned it, but decided to give it a try, and was pleasantly surprised at how well it paired with the Okuma rod, and the smoothness of the reel. We'll see if it holds up as well as the Shimano 500 size. The bottom line is that this is a SMALL reel that is perfect for the rod I bought, but if you need a 1000 size reel, you will be disappointed.

It's a good reel, but it's not as good as the Penn Fierce 2
4/5

This reel performed admirably during my recent fishing trips to Nags Head, North Carolina, and the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. The reel was light and smooth right out of the box, much smoother than my Penn Fierce 2 and Penn Battle 2, and it looked great. This was mostly paired with a Fiblink 2 piece 10 foot surf rod (available on Amazon, great rod for the money) spooled with 25 lb Kast King braid. Even though this was a "surf setup," I mostly ended up pier fishing with it, and it was very comfortable to fish with because both the rod and reel were so light. I caught over 50 pan-sized spot, croaker, white perch, striper, and shad, and the reel did an excellent job overall. Now for the flaws: br>br> br>The number five. The Penn Fierce 2 has a 0 to 1 gear ratio, which makes it slower than similar reels of this size. Kast King Sharky 2 is ranked number one, while Kast King Sharky 1 is ranked number five. 1 for their models in the 5000-size range. When retrieving 50-pound bags, it was clear that something was wrong. When the bite got hot, 75 yards of line was needed to pull in all those fish. br>If it had been just this, I would have given it a 5 star rating because of the price, but the reel foot was the main thing I didn't like. When I paired it with a variety of rods, I noticed a lot of flex. When I was reeling in the smaller fish, the flex was barely noticeable, but when I hooked into a skate and fought it, the flex was very noticeable. The drag was excellent, and the reel had enough power to get the skate close enough to the pier to cut my line, but the flexing was a turnoff. I've hooked into skates before with lower-quality reels, and the flex didn't seem to bother me as much. br>br>Overall, I enjoy using this reel and would recommend it to anyone looking to catch medium to small fish. An all-aluminum body (or at the very least a more solid reel foot) and a faster gear ratio would turn this into an absolute stud that could compete with the Penn Fierce 2 (which, in my opinion, is currently a better buy for the extra $15-$20). $20). In terms of smoothness, construction, and price, it's probably a tie with the Kast King Sharky 2.

It's a good deal
5/5

For ice fishing, I purchased the size C10. For this purpose, I have a variety of reals ranging from low to high value. For crappie, perch, trout, and the occasional walleye, a premium reel is generally not worth the money. With this reel and a Clam ML rod, I recently landed a 6 pound 2 ounce lake trout on 4 pound test. He went to the bottom four times (about 35 feet), but the drag was smooth and controlled, and he eventually made it to the ice. If I were going to fish for lakers or pike on a regular basis, I'd consider upgrading to the C30. All- Overall, this is a fantastic reel for the money and well worth the $40 price tag. When compared to my Shimanos, which cost twice as much, it performs admirably. I was skeptical at first, but with the Pfluger President up from $30 to $55 this year, I decided to give Okuma a try. I'm glad I took the opportunity to do so.

C30 - Small, light, and powerful are the three words that come to mind when thinking of this product It's smooth and light, which is exactly what I wanted, but when I took it out of the box, I was taken aback by its size
5/5

It's a small space. I debated whether or not to return it before even giving it a chance. I decided to keep it because it seemed well-made, and after doing some more research after receiving it, I discovered that it could hold a good amount of small diameter line. I used 15lb braid (. 14mm diameter) on it, and it was more than enough. It's easily over 250 yards long. Keeping it turned out to be a wise decision. I paired it with a 7ft medium gx2 ugly stik and went on a trip with it. It's fantastic. It has made me very happy. The small size didn't seem to bother the setup, as it easily handled a 30" snook tonight. If that's important to anyone, it also casts a long distance. If anything changes, I'll let you know. br>br>.

It Isn't As Good As They Make It Out To Be
3/5

To be honest, I was a little underwhelmed by this reel. I have three other Okuma reels that I purchased for less than this one at Dick's and have been using for several years. They've done a fantastic job. They were Stratus models, to be sure. I've only used the Ceymar a couple of times so far. It's a lovely reel, but it's not quite as smooth as one would hope. I bought a Pflueger President on sale for $30 at Bass Pro, and there was no comparison when I fished them side by side. The President was silky smooth, with few line twists, a lot of drag, and excellent balance. The reel is, after all, $60. The line kept getting caught behind the spool and wrapping around the spindle, which was the Ceymar's most irritating flaw. If I had to make a recommendation, I'd go with the President for $60 or the Stratus for $30 at Dicks.
