It can be used on a boat trailer but if submerged it is 100% water tight it is not 100% water tight it is not 100% water tight it is not 100% water tight it is
I simply used a rubber mallet and hammer, but a 2x4 would suffice.br>- Nick
Dexter would never put their name on something like this, in my opinion. Mine has already cracked rubber, despite the fact that it is only a few months old. Has never been near a body of water.

Beware ! Installing these can be a challenge. One was harmed by me hammering it with a rubber mallet and a 2 x 4 piece. I followed the advice of another reviewer and sanded the edge with a belt sander. I tried using a rubber mallet, but it was ineffective. I've got a brick and a 5" long piece of 2 x 4. The 2x 4 went right in when I started tapping it against the bearing cap with the brick. You WILL damage it if you hammer it slightly crooked. It has to be precise.
/ Update: / Good quality, / The first trip was a bust. Kodiac disc brake hubs and four winns boat trailer 3500 axle hubs have a very tight fit, which is preferable to a loose fit. br>Recent changes: br>First drive was 6 hours; I'm not sure how I lost one; I'm guessing heat and grease pushed it out. Instead, I hoped the rubber would have popped out, allowing the grease and air to escape. Strange, because these appeared to be a snug fit. I guess I'll give it another shot. This is a good time to glue the scumbags in.
The rubber plug is a harder material that is more difficult to get into and out of than the trp brand. Although they fit snugly in the hubs, the lip of the lip protrudes slightly. I honestly thought they were a Chinese knockoff, but the seller stated that they were genuine Redline/Dexter parts and that he has been in the trailer business for 25 years, so I would not recommend them.
The product appears to be of high quality, but after installing one and driving our trailer for a few hundred miles, it was no longer functional. Yes, we were on our way to our destination when we fell off the road. The fit was snug, and I had to use a rubber mallet to ensure that it was fully seated. Next time, I'll go straight to the trailer manufacturer, which will probably cost a little more. No, not at all. We don't have a grease cap right now.
986" OD. My Toro log splitter came with Dexter EZ lube axle grease caps, which I needed to replace. The axle is made of a light-weight material. Dexter torsion style is a duty style. They haven't started to rust after 30 days, and the rubber caps haven't come loose. They do protrude beyond the tire's outer edge. The originals, on the other hand, did the same thing, with narrow tires. 80- The size is 12 inches.
It's a given that you'll have to use a mallet to get your caps on. So I did, and on the season's final trip, I misplaced it. I noticed it was missing this year, so I grabbed the second one from the set and slapped it on. It had vanished by the time I arrived at the campground. These caps don't have enough of a lip to keep them in place. Inexpensive and poorly designed. If you have the option, purchase original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. It's time to put in a little extra effort in order to make a few extra dollars.
If you don't want to have serious trailer bearing problems, these caps are a must. It's difficult to install the first time, but after a few tries, you'll get the hang of it and it'll become second nature. The grease can be replaced and bearing damage can be avoided with the removable end.
Rubber, which was installed in May, was cracked and failing by August, and they hadn't even been in the water. After reading some of the other reviews, I'm curious as to how quickly they rust. I need to get some more rubber plugs right now.
