Hello, Jason. The float switch with the fuse holder allows you to add a fuse near the float switch. Because the standard float switch lacks a fuse holder, you'll need to replace it with your own. br>Best regards, Xylem.

In 2002, I purchased this to replace the original float switch that had failed on my 36-foot boat. For the past 18 years, it has been a reliable sailboat. I was pleased to find that it was the same size as the original, and wiring and installation were simple. When I was surprised by a full bilge two months later on a summer cruise, I realized it wasn't working. Very let down. If not caught, an error like this could sink a ship. I'm surprised that such a critical component could fail so easily and quickly. There is no debris in the bilge that could have hampered the float's performance. There was no reason for this to go wrong.
This float switch is identical to what you'd find at any West Marine, but it's less expensive. I haven't had any issues with it, except that a piece of debris will occasionally get into it and cause it to stick in the ON position. Fortunately, this occurred in the marina, where the batteries are connected to a charger; however, if this occurred while sailing, you could easily lose your battery if you do not hear the pump running. br>br>Aside from that, it does exactly what it says it will, and I can't say I'm disappointed. Perhaps I should thoroughly clean the gunk out of my bilge!.
mostly. Don't hold your breath for this to work. Your boat is going to capsize. When you are present, it works most of the time, but it becomes stuck frequently, both open and closed. It is free of garbage. Because Rule makes good pumps, I assumed this would be a reliable product as well. It's not the case.
This was exactly what I needed, a perfect fit that was simple to wire in.
Pumps are excellent and are simple to swap out or install. I buy extra just in case, and they appear to have a good supply.
