boat. This is what I use to make a jon-style jon-style jon-style jon-style jon-style a boat that has taken on water as a result of waves or rain over night br>br>In the time it takes me to prepare myself and start the motor, it will pump out eight inches of water from the stern of my 14'. So, with a piece of smooth clear hose and about fourteen inches of head, I'm guessing about ten gallons in about three minutes. It only passes through sand, and the included grill rejects leaves and other objects large enough to clog the impeller. It won't pump well unless it's submerged, so make sure there's at least two inches of bilge water. Bottom line: much less effort required than a hand pump to keep feet dry. However, I don't think you'd be able to continue sailing if you had a major leak.
I'm going to purchase another four. They last a long time; I have three of them in our boat cabin, which is constantly absorbing water due to its location in the ocean's shallows. There is one in the front, one in the center, and one in the back. Floats are included as well. The pumps are still running despite one of the floats failing and having to be replaced. Almost every other pump we've had in the past has failed by now. They're in an unfavorable setting. The boat is old, with a filthy hull. Previous pump and battery failures have caused the boat to sink three times. The water is shallow, and the boat is large, so it's not a problem. We'd use trash pumps to get it floating again after hearing from cabin neighbors that it had sunk. Every time the boat sinks, it deteriorates even further. Now we're down to two batteries. Returning to the hull's story. It's clogged with mud and trash. It's not easy to clean at sea. It will cost between $2,000 and $3,000 to transport it back. The best we can hope for is to keep it afloat and repair what we can. Until we decide it's time for a new one. For the past few months, these pumps have been put through a lot, so I decided to purchase four more. 2 as a backup (just in case) and 2 with floats mounted at higher levels. In the event that the floats on the main pumps fail, These pumps have a lot of potential. Now all I have to do is find a float that will stay in the hull of that boat.
The body of the Tsunami can be separated from the mounting base using a release tab. This enables you to remove debris that has become lodged in the inlet. You won't be able to depress the tab to release the base if it's mounted to a flat surface. I've never seen a bilge pump with a worse design. The pump's plastic base cracked, rendering it inoperable.
The pump is in excellent condition. The pump is submerged in ice water and runs for 20 to 40 minutes at a time; no problems have been reported to date, and it has proven to be dependable.
It does exactly what it says! This unit was purchased to replace a Bilge Pump that had been in service for 12 years. Because the previous unit was also an Attwood, the replacement was simple. Pump connection and wiring are both simple. Despite the fact that they are rated the same, this unit appears to pump faster than my old one. I anticipate the same Attwood quality, and that pump will serve me well for many years.
Excellent product, which is both reliable and of high quality. I've used it on my boat a few times and it's never let me down, especially when I'm in desperate need of water. 500gph is plenty for my small jonboat! I don't have a leak, but my boat has a flat bottom, so water gets in from time to time. This pump does exactly what it says it will, and I'll buy more for my next project boat.
My husband managed to connect it to our four-wheeler, and it was able to pull the last six feet. I was impressed because this thing is small, but it took 8 hours to drain 8" of water from the pool. However, it was ideal for our needs!.
This pump was purchased to replace a 500gph Rule pump that was no longer in service. They won't fit in the spot where I'd been using them before. This pump only lasted about a month before it died. They do appear to be quieter than the Rule's, but that's about the only positive I could find, so I gave them a one-star rating instead of zero.
