Questions & Answers

For the jhonson pump cartridge model 28512, will I also require the jhonson automatic float switch model 3615?

You'll need a float switch as well as the housing if you want to make an automatic bilge. If you're replacing an automatic pump with a built-in float. If the float still works, all you have to do now is replace the cartridge if the pump is broken.

Is it possible to use a 1000 gph cartridge in a 500 gph housing?

A larger housing, I believe, is required for Johnson Pump.

Is the 28512 Johnson Pumps of America Cartridge interchangeable with the 2851 Johnson Pumps of America Cartridge?

It has the potential to take its place. When I was unsure, I called Johnson directly, and they were extremely helpful (their phone number is 847) 671 7867).

Is it possible to use a 1000 gph cartridge in a 750 gph housing?

For the 750 GPH, I would suggest a Johnson Pump 28572.

Part of the design that isn't there; To avoid a seizure from plastic welding, take the following precautions
3/5

The impeller and motor body clearance was 1/16" when this pump arrived unpackaged. The shaft drew closer into the motor and pulled the impeller against the motor body when 12 volts power was applied to the terminals, causing the motor to stall. Melted plastic was discovered on the contact surface between the impeller and the motor body, causing them to fuse and causing the motor to stall. There is no safeguard in place to prevent this from occurring while the bilge pump is in service. If these units had been subjected to any sort of quality control, the mode of failure would have been obvious right away, and it could have been avoided with two appropriately sized phosphor bronze 534 alloy washers stacked between the impeller and motor body to prevent seizure caused by shock or debris impact during operation. The reason for using phosphor bronze 534 alloy is that it is very close on the galvanic scale to the impeller shaft 316 alloy, which helps to prevent galvanic corrosion, and bronze bears against itself with low friction, which is important when immersed in fluids. The I. The washers should be 1/8" in diameter and O. At least 11/16" (contact patch measurement), but any standard size will suffice. Contact between the two pieces should be avoided, as should plastic welding.

There is no guarantee! After four months, my pump stopped working
3/5

A warranty of 18 months is stated on the packaging. The warranty return was refused by Amazon, and I was directed to Johnson Pump for assistance. In an email, Johnson's parent company, SPX, said: br>"Amazon warranties are no longer handled by us. " For your warranty claim, we recommend returning to the retailer via Amazon. Johnson Pump is an Amazon seller, not a third-party seller. So be wary: this pump appears to fail frequently, and neither Johnson Pump, their parent company SPX, nor Amazon will honor the warranty!.

This product should be avoided at all costs because it has the potential to cause fire, death, and property loss
3/5

This is a terrible product! This product served as my forward and aft bilge pumps. I replaced them three years ago and was surprised when the aft one failed. No problem, I'll just order another. When the new one arrives, it is defective; it makes a grinding noise and shuts off intermittently, so I believe the windings are faulty. New one arrives, is tested, sounds great, and is installed without issue for about a week before the breaker trips and it stops working. WTF. So I take it out, only to discover that it has melted, thank goodness for the breaker. This is also crazy because I wash the bilge with fresh water after every use with the new one to extend its life, which is not only dangerous, but potentially fatal. We could all die a horrible, nasty death if the boat caught fire while we were 30 miles out, let alone lose our boat to a fire, or even a marina fire, so I switched to a rule pump. It scared the living daylights out of me, and it should do the same for you.

It is simple to set up
5/5

The Johnson Marine Bilge Pump Cartridge is an excellent option. After you've installed the mount in your boat's bilge, all you have to do now is replace the cartridge rather than the entire unit. This is important to me because I work in a small space and replacing a worn-out unit is a breeze. One automatic and one manual bilge pump are in my possession. On my hand pump, I use the cartridge. Rewiring is simple, and all of the 500, 750, and 1000 GPH models are the same size, so you can simply change the cartridge to increase or decrease the capacity of your pump. In addition, cartridges are less expensive than replacing the entire pump. To this point, I haven't found any flaws. This is an excellent item!.

The pump was easy to install and worked exactly as it should
4/5

This Bilge Pump was purchased as a direct replacement for the one that had failed on my boat and was OME. a Skiff from the Carolinas, from the year 2014. The pump was easy to install and worked exactly as it should. I'm hoping I'm not going to drown anytime soon! br>br>My order for a Johnson Bilge Pump was shipped and arrived in a timely manner. I like how it was presented in a simple manner; To keep it compact and neat, it's only made of simple plastic. I despise having to open a lot of packaging that isn't necessary. Thank you for taking the time to read this. br>br> I rely heavily on reviews, and I hope mine was useful to you. Please click the "Helpful" button if my review aided you in making your decision to buy or not buy this item in any way. Thanks!.

Mayfair 28512 Pump is a perfect match and replacement
5/5

Pumps by Johsnon:
- br>Thus far, everything appears to be in order. As usual, the packaging and shipping were excellent. I put the pump to the test in my driveway, and it's powerful and quiet. My 13-year-old bilge began to make a lot of noise. I make an effort to keep my surroundings tidy and to address any issues as quickly as possible. actively, in order to avoid unnecessary sorrow when you most need it. This should work for 2800 series pumps, as shown in the QA section, and it did for me. As a replacement for my 28512, this pump fit right in. Other Pumps: br>br>Other Pumps: br>br>Other Pumps: br>br>
- br>On my brother's boat a few years ago, I dealt with Attw$$d bilge pumps, which I now regret. We were stuck when the pump's output nozzle cracked, so we had to buy another one. For some reason, I passed on the Johnson concept at the time. Maybe it's because I'm a Merc/Yammy guy? (joke) I think I thought it was cheezy because of the "cartridge design. " Again, there was no good reason and it was entirely my fault. I now regret using/re-using Johnson pumps after learning that my Lund boat came with them and how easy they are to replace. On my brothers, I use the other brand. br>br>For me, Johnson pumps are now on! I hope this is of use to someone!.
