One of these was included with my boat, and it has served me well in saltwater for the past nine years. It's lasted longer than a few float switches! The cartridge is easy to replace, and the sealing mechanism is simple to use. The ring has already been sized. silicone grease was used to lubricate the joints. Despite being nearly a decade apart, this replacement pump looked and fit exactly like the original. br>br>The 500 gph and 800 gph pumps are ideal for keeping rainwater or the occasional small wave pumped out of the bilge. However, in rough water, those pumps are incapable of keeping up with the waves that wash over the bow. br>br>In the end, I decided to install a 3800 gph pump as an "emergency" bilge pump in case things got bad. Having a second bilge pump as a backup is always a good idea. br>br>A couple of the T800 sizes should work well for smaller boats up to about 15'. You'll need to upgrade to a much bigger one for anything bigger. br>br>However, I use the smaller T800 pump as my "main" bilge pump to keep things dry as a first line of defense.
Because the kayak was already plumbed, I simply screwed it on and moved on. This product appeals to me. Note: If you listen for differences in the sounds, it will last longer. I'm going to replace it for the third time, but this time with a model that isn't from Attwood. Previously, a name meant quality; now, it simply means overpriced, underperforming garbage.
Installing on existing housing is a breeze. The first one lasted a few years, but even though I rinse with fresh water after each use, the salt water gets everything. However, for the money, it is well worth it.
To replace a burned-out motor, this was exactly what was needed. br>Easy to swap out the old motor for a new one. Twist out the old by pressing one tab. Place the new one in place and twist it in. The fact that the O ring was pre-installed was a nice touch. lubed.
