This would be ideal for putting oil in the gears. That's exactly how I use mine.
I doubt it because the attachment is designed to fit a quart bottle. A gallon bottle with the same opening is unlikely to be found.

There are better fluid pumps for a lot more money, but for the price, this works great. It doesn't fit all gear lube bottles, such as Royal Purple or Amzoil, but I managed to make it work. In my mustang, I used this to replace the rear differential fluid and the manual transmission fluid, and it worked perfectly.
This pump performed admirably on my 2007 Suzuki 300 hp. The tube's end screws into the drain hole, allowing new lower unit lube oil to be pumped up and into the gear case. I could see the oil being pumped in through a clear tube.
Pumping atf and synthetic gear lube is a breeze with these. There will be no leaking, and it will be simple to clean up. I'd buy them again if the opportunity presented itself. So far, they've fit on any standard bottle I've tried.
It's a lot easier and faster than squeezing a tube of gear lube into a lower unit!.
I couldn't find any specific references to this pump working on a 2017 Mercury Four Stroke 8HP outboard, but the reviews swayed me. This is one I'm glad I got. Excellent value for money. I anticipate that it will continue to function for many years.
