Questions & Answers

What would you recommend if I was buying a manual sharpener?

Getting a Worksharp knife sharpener is a wise decision. You can get the original 60 dollars model, or the updated 120 dollar Ken Onion edition. It makes me look and feel like I can sharpen anything, but this gadget (I got the Ken Onion edition) has made it easy and efficient as well as making me look like an expert sharpener! They are not sold to me, nor am I affiliated with them. Nowadays, a good product is hard to find, so I enjoy it when I do come across one. You are in good hands.

What is the edge holding capacity of this? After a couple of sharpenings, does it still hold its edge like it was brand ?

Let me provide a brief history lesson for those young enough not to remember their great grandfather shaving with a straight razor. It is impossible to keep an edge on a Razor sharp knife. As an edge becomes sharper, it begins to dull more quickly. Great grandpa used his razor strop to sharpen his beard cutting steel every time he used it, so he always had it with him. In order for a fillet knife to maintain its sharp edge, it must have a fine razor edge as well as knowledge that it must be regularly honed (not sharpened).

For this knife, what would be the best way to sharpen it?

On this request, we are opening up a huge can of worms. 10 people will answer a question and 10 answers will be given. As a child, my mother taught me how to use an Arkansas stone. It's my comfort zone, and I have yet to meet a blade I haven't honed. Other methods have failed to impress me, but the stone is superior to them. Sharpening is all about technique and angle, no matter what your poison may be, practice until you get good at it.

Do you need to use the right-handed blade to use this knife or can a lefty use it?

As a lefty, I also wear left-handed shoes. I am happy with the results. For large fish, this knife is really solid.

I really enjoy how sharp* it is
5/5

Then read on! It's the best knife I've ever owned and I'm glad I bought it. A 6" product suited my needs perfectly, I thought the size would be smaller, but it was quite large. I like the impeccable design of the knife and feel like I am holding a quality knife in my I should not have to tell you. Paper can be cut like butter with this machine.

Is it the quality of the knives that makes them so good? It's amazing how well these KastKing knives work
5/5

This knife comes with an elegant blade and very sharp handle textures. It feels comfortable and sure in the hand when firmly gripped. There is no way you will be able to remove these knives from your hands. Besides being called a marine steel, German 4116 steel is also called a marine steel. Knives made from this steel are commonly used in the nautical industry. A number of medical devices are made out of 4116 steel, which is very corrosion resistant, thanks to the high contribution of chromium added to make it so. A steel is stainless because of the presence of chrome. In a low grade stainless steel, there is a minimum of 5% Chromium, while most stainless steel manufacturing companies will increase the Chromium content to as much as 10%. Known as the 4116 German Steel (also known as the 4116 Krupp), this steel has 14 ribs. It contains 50 % chrome, which makes it an ideal knife for salt water Although there are steels with much higher amounts of Chromium, too much of it can cause the steel to flex and lose its edge retention properties. With a balance of Carbon, Chromium, Vanadium, and Molybdenum in the 4116 steel, this steel is able to withstand hard use and be versatile. The 4116 steel used to make Chef's knives is not a pricey steel to produce, but I haven't seen a knife made of it for The knives made by KastKing are masterpieces in their own right. Their stunning design and very affordable price make them a great buy. These knives will enhance your knife collection (as I do), and you will appreciate and enjoy them.

The knife has an awesome grip and is super sharp
5/5

I'm so impressed with the knife handle that I cannot express my gratitude. slime, and guts are all slippery fluids, and even with the slime and the guts on my hands, I still managed to hold the knife and finish the job! A hump on the handle also helps you grip the knife, but seriously, the WINN Grips on it are much better than anything else I've ever seen! Additionally, the sofa is super comfortable! There's no doubt this knife is super sharp, and it made my trout cleaning experience a breeze! The last time I used it was a long time ago. I'm eager The update is . . . I bought a bait knife, and my neighbor managed to cut himself by accident while helping me unbox it. As far as sharpness goes, I can attest that it is excellent! The only thing left to do is test it on fish, not humans.

Filet knife I own is the best I've ever had
5/5

It is worth it to trust After my previous filet knife that I've had for more than 20 years would no longer take an edge, I decided to find a new one. I read a lot of different reviews for various filet knives. Due to the good reviews this knife received, I decided to purchase the 7" version, as most of my fishing There was a nice sheath included with the knife that protected the knife. This knife has an impressive amount of sharpness, which I believe is the case for most knives. However, the thing that impressed me most I love it! With its lightweight design and easy maneuverability, will not slip out of your hands when filleting a fish. And the blade has some good flex which aids in producing an even slice while filleting. This knife is terrific and I have no hesitation in recommending it. You should check it out!.

This filet knife offers excellent value for the price
5/5

The knife is constructed well, and the blade itself is of high quality. My knife has been used to catch a variety of fish species in a tough environment as I'm a saltwater guy in Texas. This product is flexible enough for delicate fish, yet has enough backbone for some species that are tougher. It retains its sharpness well and can be sharpened roughly with a straight edge following a few passes. Taking proper care after use is crucial to prevent rust from forming, but there have been a couple of times where I neglected to do so and the blade held up admirably to the treatment without showing any signs of rust. In my opinion, this knife is a great value.

The knife has the final say in the matter! The Bubba knife is not a necessity, and you never have to buy the Walmart filet knives
5/5

There is no truth other than KK. Having fished for 34 of a century, and just starting to clean my own fish about 2 weeks ago, this knife made me look more professional than ever. The following is the most recent update as of second thought, I still rate this knife 5 stars, but I find myself really questioning this knife when my friend lets me use his Bubba. Yea, I returned the KK and ordered a Bubba. I had to sharpen the KK after just 3 fish, and I also did not like the cutting action I had to use with the KK. It only took me a couple of seconds to slide the knife through the fillet after using the Bubba. I have sold.

Probably one of the best purchases I've made from KastKing! Two have been mailed to me It was originally supposed to be just for fishing
5/5

However, I ended up using both for cooking also. Here is what I have to tell you My favourite part of the knife was the quality that led me to use it almost every week while I see. Ha. These days, I use them for more than just filleting fish. Among other things, I'm chopping vegetables, etc. Gotta thank KastKing for providing some of the warm meals in this house!.

A nice, sharp filet knife at an exceptional price
5/5

This is exactly what I was looking for, and it comes at an extremely low price compared to others. To cut the meat off the bones of whole bones, I use this tool- Rib roasts are often served this way. It would be nice to have a small tip like that for intricate work around and Sharpness is present from the tip to the end of the blade. As an added bonus, I know it would be great for filleting fish as well. In addition to finding it convenient to store, the blade guard is secured on the blade securely. If I were a friend, I would definitely recommend it. As an added bonus, I found it in my favorite easy-to-make flavor Orange is our color of the day! I love it!!!!!.
