It will keep the shape of a glove that has been well cared for if it is wrapped. The floppy or soft definition of "flat" will not be improved by this.

Material is very strong and holds up better than I would have expected. A new glove was just purchased to replace an old one that I had used for softball and baseball to use with my children between practices or games. Since I chose a more expensive glove this time, I chose not to break it in using hot water or steam This is too good of leather to ruin with those methods, so I am doing it the old fashioned You can wrap it with a ball when it is not in use, and store it in the pocket. I purchased these glove wraps on Amazon for a great price and was very satisfied. I was very surprised at how sturdy they are, and I also really appreciated how well the Velcro secured them.
