Questions & Answers

Are you sure that this is compatible with Yamaha 70hp 4 strokes?

This shouldn't be a problem. In this case, it was not that hard I have it installed on a Suzuki 115 motor and it works great.

Is it possible to install the hydraulic unit on a 2013 Yamaha 150 four-stroke?

The steering rod mounts on the bracket in which it runs, so I'd say yes, because it is mounted on the bracket using the steering rod. The ranger bass boat I owned was equipped with dual cables. This is a two-stroke motor with a high output. What a great idea!

What is the compatibility of this kit with my Yamaha F115 LTR 68V?

It is true. *You may not need an adapter to take advantage of this upgrade. *is ideal for mechanically steered boats up to 150 hp.

This will fit the Mercury 150hp Black Max outboard motor from 1994?

The Bay Star website should give you an estimate, but to make sure, check it out

It took me about an hour to install this
5/5

The project was the first of its kind I had ever worked on. Grease had dried up in my old steering cable, so it was stuck. Several boating stores told me it would cost over $500 to replace the cable because they had to take off the motor to do it. As a result, I decided I should upgrade to hydraulic steering and do it myself for about the same price as I downloaded the instruction manual and read it twice after ordering this item. By the time it arrived, I was ready to put it into use. As I dropped the old helm from the console, I cut the cable with a cut off wheel then tied a rope to it before pulling it out so I had something to pull the new cable I then went to the back of the boat and cut the cables next to the engine. The old cables were very easy to pull out and then I rigged up the hydraulics on the motor and tightened all of the bolts to finger tight. After I taped my new hoses to the rope, I pulled them back through in one snap. The helm was fitted with all the fittings and then bolted We went back to the back and connected the fittings and tightened all the My experience with the software has been nothing short of amazing. I am beyond pleased with its functionality. In order for it to tilt all the way up, I did have to cut off the dog ears on the motor. After the install I realized I had missed it, but I was able to take it off and cut them out in about five minutes. The tilt is now all the way up as it should be.

This is an excellent product that is easy to install
5/5

I replaced my extremely stiff cable steering with this product and it works like a charm. This is luxury. Here's a tip It is best to use TWO people when bleeding the lines. Despite the fact that you may think you're a super hero. This will save you SO much time. The directions say to keep turning the wheel while closing the bleeders. It is extremely difficult for an individual to carry out on his or her own. HELM -- DO NOT LET ANY BUBBLES GET INTO IT, or you will have to bleed 8 times more. You can mount your filler bottle securely by taking a little extra time. The extra is usually trimmed off when the house is cut to length, so don't worry about hiding the excess.

I could not be happier with this product
5/5

My husband just installed a brand new motor/outboard on his 1988 A lot of the new motor's components were larger than the old one, so the shop that installed it recommended upgrading to a hydraulic steering system. A price tag of $ 2,500 would apply to that. A large sum of money had already been invested in the motor and associated parts when he decided to opt out. Despite taking the boat out a couple times, the steering was very difficult, making maneuvering the boat impossible. It was then that I suggested we check into pricing. We were thrilled that they were much more affordable online. He asked me to let others know that the product is very well built and that you do need 2 individuals It had been mentioned in a previous review and we found it to be To get all the air out of the lines, we had to make a few attempts. It's his favorite product and he recommends it.

Using hydraulic power to steer a boat
5/5

With my 115 horsepower Suzuki outboard motor, I installed this in my 19 foot Carolina Skiff. With the new cable steering system, the OEM cable steering system no longer showed excessive motor torque. Controlling the boat is as easy as touching the spokes, making it much easier to maneuver. This is especially helpful when loading it onto the trailer in cross currents. I was able to install the system without any hassle even though I had never installed this kind of computer If you possess a few basic hand tools and are capable of reading and interpreting well written instructions, you should have little trouble installing the unit. challenging part of the process was taking apart the old cable steering system from the boat due to insufficient room on most boats to take it apart without shifting the engine over a foot or more. To remove the steering cable, I cut it at the engine end to eliminate having to remove the engine. There is no need to remove the engine or remove the steering drum. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to replace their existing steering or simply wants.

My only regret is that I regret nothing! Installing this on my 19 raised a lot of concerns in my mind
5/5

It's an original '95 hull, re-powered with a larger engine in 2006, and had the original rack and pinion steering. My boat has an optional 150hp Yamaha engines, due to being at the top of the HP range for this product. Tell me what you need to know. A bear to steer, that was. Eventually I began to question my purchase, to the point where I was afraid I'd gotten it wrong. The schedule is broken into 3-hour chunks over a couple of As bad as it was to remove the old steering, the installation of the Baystar was worse. My understanding is that the Baystar system's hoses are rigid and made out of plastic, which is why people have criticized them. Nevertheless, I have read dozens of reviews stating that the long-term reliability of this system is good, so I am optimistic. Having experienced several trips on the water, I can confidently conclude that my steering is MIGHTY DIFFERENT from the mechanical steering system original to the boat! I have never regretted anything I've done so far. Additionally, the customer service was excellent, the email was replied to the.

The product was good, but the instructions were inadequate
4/5

This product seems to be a great buy. It fits well and does its job well There is no feedback from the torque steer. The boat is 19' and has a 120 Johnson ocean runner motor. It is because of the instructions that the review was given four stars. There ought to be a label on the hoses that says "Steering end, engine end. ". Instructions assume you are going to install the engine end first, but if you are replacing a single cable system you will be connecting the hoses to the old cable and dragging everything aft since it is easier to do it standing on the ground than kneeling Despite trying my best, I put my hoses This is the way things will remain.
