No hole should be drilled in the tube. This would defeat the purpose of installing a wiping nut, since salt would get inside! For sure, the system will freeze up.
Generally, it is located on the exit side of the piston, but on the end of the tube. A half turn was all it took to tighten it up. The grease worked perfectly, and now the machine is working as it should.
Make sure the steering tube of your engine is in good condition before installing A stiff bristle brush attached to a drill motor should be used to clean it thoroughly. It is for this purpose that brushes are made. Be sure that the threes of the motor's steering tube are clean so that they do not break when you thread the nut on. Use a socket wrench to thread manually once the nut is threaded. If the nut is too tight,
On the end of the tube where the steering rod emerges, this nut connects, thus making it a steering rod nut. As part of the original package, this dustcap replaces the plastic one that was there. To work the grease into the cable and tilt tube, you must make it semi-tight after putting it in place and then turn the outboard many times side to side.

S. Department of Defense considers outboard steering to be a MUST HAVE. If your OB cable steering mechanism (not hydraulic) is comparable to this, then you need it. Because of this, the cable cannot be greased, which means the friction between the cable and the cable conductor increases and ultimately causes the cable to seize or break. The most likely time for this type of failure to occur is when it will be inconvenient for most people. The device can be easily installed (due to its simple design). This seems to be a well-made product.
The seal may not be 100% effective. I like it, but with a lip seal, it would have been much better. This small cap may not be able to accommodate a lip seal. I still allow grease to escape, it just slows the rate of airflow.
Installs in a few minutes. This prevents ice from forming on the steering. I'm doing well. It's made, and it's really good.
It looks great. I love the grease fitting. BRINGS AN EXTRA O-RING THE FUTURE IS IN THE RING. If that little fitting had been installed by the previous owner, it is very likely that I would not have needed to replace the cable. A LIVE AND A LEARNING METHOD.
It's a good idea to lube your steering Following the suggestion of using gear oil in place of grease, I am doing just that.
Good quality is the name of the game for this product. Ensures that great cannot leak past the o-ring The steering rod is ringed onto the steering ring. It is not recommended to use a The money is well spent on this one.
Exactly what I was looking for. Comes with an extra set of O-rings Ring them up. The upgrade is of good quality and well worth it. As far as I am concerned, should not be without. With this, you can protect your boat's expensive steering cable and shaft. This is an easy fix at a low price. The wammo The Bammore- I did it!.
Exactly what we needed.
