Questions & Answers
Yes, I can answer your question. A groove runs the length of the light socket. At the bottom of your light pole, you'll find a receptacle socket. A round head screw secures the socket in its place. The screw's head guides the pole into place so that it can connect to the contacts in the light base. I hope this has been of assistance.
It's difficult to say because I have one, but it's on a trailer, I'm 2 miles from the ocean, and it hasn't rusted yet (I've had it for about a year).
Dimensions of the base: 1/4" O.
5 inches.
Selected User Reviews For Perko 1045P00DP 2-Pin Pole Light Base - Round
This stern light base was purchased to replace one that we snapped off on July 4th each of the previous two years (driving after dark to view fireworks = snapped base). br>br>This item is an exact OEM replacement for the light on my boat, and I couldn't be happier with it. HOWEVER, none of the other reviews mentioned that it will require some electrical work - It's not as simple as plugging in a device. The boat manufacturer built a small connector into the stern light base that snapped off of my boat, and this item only comes with two wires, one black and one white. br>br>Ultimately (after speaking with some kind folks who are more knowledgeable about boat wiring / electrical work in general than I am), we cut the wires attached to the old base, preserving the connector my boat OEM had installed, and then used some butt connectors (red ones because this wire is red because this wire is red) and We were then able to connect the new stern light base to the existing connection on the boat, test it, and then screw the new stern light base into place where the old one had been (again, SUPER easy because they are identical). br>br>In total, we spent $30 on this part and $6 on a value pack of electrical doodads, including the butt connectors, which is a significant savings over the hundreds we would have spent having our boat mechanic do this simple job. This is fantastic. It only took a little while for this electrical noob to figure out how to complete the task at hand.
It is not included, despite what the description says. I only bought this item after asking a question in the Q&A section. A, and being told that it was part of the package. According to the instructions that came with it, "for Perko stow- lights on a pole with a locking collar" The collar does not appear to be included in the packaging. The item has been returned.
The locking collar on this item is advertised. It isn't locked. There are no threads and no locking tab on this plastic sleeve. It is completely inoperable. Perko's salespeople have no idea what they're talking about.
It was supposed to be a direct replacement for the fixture I had before. It's a tad smaller than the old one and barely covers it. It's the same size in terms of functionality and uses two pin poles. I was hoping for a direct replacement as a Perko, but the design has changed and the old version is no longer available.
Our old one was almost perfectly replaced by this one. There is no way for the light to remain in this one. My old light is just sitting there, not screwed or locked in. I'm not sure if the base or the light needs to be replaced at this time.
This brand is far superior to Attwood or other low-quality alternatives.
The light pole has a secure fit. I followed the mounting instructions to the letter, but the hole appeared to be slightly too large. It was a bit of a challenge to drill the screw holes close enough to the 1 1/4" main hole. When mounted, it looks really nice.
