MotorGuide 8M0092071 Xi Series Pinpoint GPS Navigation Remote Replacement — For Xi3 and Xi5 Trolling Motors Includes Lanyard

There is no doubt that the Motorguide trolling motor xi5 is great, and this controller is perfect when I was trying to attach it to my remote because of a flimsy plastic attachment point. It appears that there is a fix on youtube that involves sewing a nylon strap across the back of the remote from one screw to the other. The second remote I just bought is quite different. Currently, I have one with a lanyard attached for the person working on the casting deck, and another (with a broken bit of lanyard attachment) put on the dash of the cockpit. According to reports, you can have up to 48 remotes, two of them are not a I cannot believe how easy it is to link a remote control to a motor. It appears that you must plug your XI5 into power to operate it. Once it has a link, you will need to press the left arrow and right arrow simultaneously on the remote. My first attempt was to link on a xi5 that had been powered on for about 30 minutes, but it was unable to do so. It worked on the first try after a fresh power up of the motor. Next, I reviewed the operating instructions so that I could operate the remote and saw some other functions that I hadn't noticed before. I am amazed. The more I use my XI5, the more I love it. Autopilot was my first experience with the feature and it works fine. I will need to watch a video on how to follow a route and erase the old route once it has been completed. As a whole, the remote is a great device. You can hear the motor beeping from the middle or back of the boat sometimes, so it would be nice if it had an LCD display. Additionally, a stronger attachment for the lanyard would be useful. The product is good otherwise.

You probably don't have to spend $100 for a small remote control that costs a fraction of that. A couple of screws were missing on the back of mine.

There is obviously a quality control issue in the picture. Because I was replacing an original remote that came with my Xi5, I was able to simply take the old screws off that and replacing them with the new ones. All it took me was 10 seconds to reconnect my Xi5 remote to the new unit. On the back of this book are instructions, just like on the Worked like a charm. My three star rating is due to the fact that I feel there should have been more screws included for the price.

I like it very much. This remote is a replacement for the broken one I had previously. Store these in a ziplock bag when not in use. As they don't like water. Replacing the band with one with a stronger breakaway would be a good idea.

My original Xi5 MotorGuide remote is being replaced by the remote you see here. Dropping mine in the water for 3 seconds would not degrade it, but my original accidently fell into the water for up to 5 seconds I watched it for four seconds before it fried. I would have thought that since it was next to the lake, it would be waterproofed a bit better. Considering that this is only my first one, it would rate a 2 out of 5.
