It didn't occur to me as much light was being wasted by our boat's older anchor lights. We ordered this model and replaced the old model with the updated one. I think this is so much better. It is usually one of those things you think of when you see an anchor light. In terms of its illumination, as long as it turns on, the concern should be that the vessel is moving far enough ahead of you to spot you. Our needs have been met by this light.
On our Nautique G25, this is a factory replacement part.
The light works well over the older incandescent designs, however the base is a bit of a pain. I imagine that it's the only thing that ever breaks if you hit it, and it seems to be extremely fragile. There is no way to purchase a replacement base separately, which would be great if Attwood offered them.
It has all of that, but it's also snag-free. Since I started running it years ago, I've enjoyed it immensely.
A seal was not present on this light. We had our first rain after it was installed, and water got in It is required by law to have the light in place, but it isn't working now, so I have to go find another light. A piece of just is being sold for an outrageous price.
One of the old caps fell off. I installed this one in my 2003 Searay Sundeck 240 wakeboard tower without a problem.
It works well, has a low profile, and a bright led light.
I am much happier with this device than with the stock unit that came with connect the black wire to the black wire on the light, and the red wire from the boat to the red wire on the light.
