It does what it is advertised to do

According to my application, the base had to be removed. As far as my app was concerned, the aluminum tube was fairly light-weight. Thus, I pop in to say hello Inside the larger tube, I rivitted a smaller tube and popped it The mast of my sailboat has been riveted to the assembly. While I believe the unit was suitable for the intended use, it was not ideal.

Getting this light for my inflatable dinghy was a great idea. It took me just under an hour to install it. LED lights are very bright. While I would like it to be adjustable to be taller, it isn't adjustable by default.
