How do they work? Do they have batteries?

The devices do not have batteries, so they are not battery-powered.

Is there a way to connect these or are they already ?

There is no connection between the two

If you press the mounting surface will it pop in with pressure or do you need to have access to the back? The grommets are rubber, but it is hard to tell. ?

The grommet will not pop up under pressure since it is made of rubber.

It is possible for the rubber grommet that holds the light itself to A grommet that his not an exact fit for the groove in the hull can slide, so if you try it, be sure that your kayak has an adequate back plate if its hull is not thick enough and ensure that your sealant is marine grade

It is estimated that 5% of candidates fail. My bench testing included 20 out of the 20 I purchased. We had trouble with 3 as well. In 1 case, there was an intermittent problem. Installation of theses and failure to install them do not feel comfortable for me. I will say, however, that the ones who do work are very The quality of a product is more important to me than the price. My goal is to use them on something that can easily be replaced. The price is exorbitant and I do not want to spend my time and money there again.

However, when you wire them, they are not as good. Ground is black, and hot is white, so you don't want to wire it the normal way with black being ground and white being hot because the lights won't work and you will have to start again.

I find that for the price they're pretty decent

They are almost the same price as some others. I was hoping for something a bit brighter, but they are not the brightest. Among the 10, three of them died within 24 hours of their first use.

This is a very easy to install, extremely bright, and clean looking product. The only thing I may recommend is placing the rubber seal in your drilled hole first, then inserting the wire and the light, so that the light pushes in and seats properly. Instructions aren't included, but a little understanding of +/- would be helpful Once you have a battery, you should be able to figure it out. This is a great product!.
