Put it in the garage and go out and get a Good. You'll be completely secure, and you'll be able to get all of your assistance over the phone. A 600 and a 1000 were in my possession. They're a waste of time.

Is it possible to use a 3strand nylon 5/8" rope with this unit? I have a new rope in this size, but my 12-year-old Lewmar's "teeth" are worn out. ?

I had it replaced, and it was exactly the same. This was included with my new sportboat. It fell apart after only a few months. It has a few flaws, the majority of which are due to poor design. I had it replaced, but the problem still exists. The guard has already bent, causing other problems, and the crank does not always work; I have to manually open and close it. It is not something I would suggest.

Professional installation of a pro fish 1000 was done for me. Also purchased a new Lewmar 8 plaight line, which had clutch slip issues before breaking completely. 'Lewmar has refused to honor the warranty and has been rude on the phone. ' They insisted on seeing photos of the installation process. In July, Windless was installed, but in August, it was decommissioned. I've only seen such bad public relations a few times in my life. They are well aware that this equipment has significant flaws, but they are unconcerned about it. They're a bunch of jerks who don't give a damn. Everything was blamed on me, including not tying off, using the wrong rope/chain, and installing incorrectly. I only have one piece of advice for anyone considering doing business with this company: don't do it. Being supplanted by a capable. As a side note, I've heard from others in my marina who have had similar experiences. RUN away from this company/equipment.

I bought this unit and it hasn't worked since it was installed; the marina told me that Lewmar said it was operator error and that they would only pay to fix it once; I waited 4 weeks for the part to arrive. All the while, the anchor had to be pulled by hand. When the part arrived, it broke the second time around. At Crab Island/Destin, FL, I only anchor in three feet of water. The failure of the part is unrelated to anything. I waited another four weeks and even purchased three replacement parts so that I wouldn't have to wait another four weeks if it failed. What's more, I've failed once more. They continued to claim that it was due to an error on the part of the operator. After 45 minutes on hold, I was able to speak with Tony on the Customer Service line. I questioned how it could be operator error when all I did was press a button. He told me that because I was using a three-strand rope, I could only pull it up 3" (inches) at a time. (Not to be confused with feet) He told me that if I bought an 8-strand braided rope, I wouldn't have to come up 3" at a time because the 8-strand rope won't twist and break the piece that guides the rope into the rope locker. br>br>I placed an order for an 8-strand rope and replaced the piece that guides the rope into the locker. Let me tell you something. The piece has broken yet again, causing it to become stuck. To get my rope, I need to disassemble the unit. When I'm running two charters with only 15 minutes between them, it's extremely difficult!

Now Lewmar states that 50% off the retail of the next unit up. They made it clear that this was not a replacement and that the previous unit should not be returned. The unit's retail list price is $1470, according to my research. I'd have to pay $735 instead of $600. The new unit will set you back $0. 00. I went to West Marine and found the exact same one for $700. 00! I'm getting nothing from Lewmar! Yes, the unit is covered by a 5-year warranty. I'm required to make a $50 payment. 00 to ship it to Jacksonville, where it will be replaced and returned with the small plastic piece. Because I've already had it replaced four times, I'm sure it'll break again. They put you off until the end of the season because repairs take four to six weeks. 6 weeks. It takes them 7-days to complete. To respond via email, you have ten days. They said they'd pass my information along to their sales department. West Marine should not be contacted because they will "assist" me. That's correct. I've already placed an order for a replacement. I believe I can file a consumer complaint because they are aware that their product is defective and poorly designed. There are a slew of complaints about the same problem I'm having. What a pathetic company to know they have a bad product but continue to sell it and dance people around until the season is over. At this rate, I'll have been tinkering with this for two years. Did I mention I had shoulder surgery and required the anchoring system because I am unable to pull on the anchor rope? They simply don't give a damn about you!.

It was set up by a professional. This is a complete sham. It was professionally installed, and it was only used once before breaking. A new one was installed, and it was tested in 25 feet of water with a sandy bottom. I'm broke once more. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS!.
