Questions & Answers

Can you fold it back up all the way so that it lies flat on the dock when you flip it up?

It stands vertically with a pin, and it is locked in place with a pin.

Can someone measure and tell me how deep the steps really are? Amazon says the steps are 21" wide, but what is the depth? Is that all?

The five step ladder I possess is the one I have. There are two inches (two inches) of depth in the steps.

A deck can be built around this to provide a swimming pool. Is this possible?

That would seem to be the case. Don't worry about the depth of the pool. The deck must be bolted to it and all clearance below it must be straight down

Can you tell me if the product includes mounting hardware?

"Yes, it is" is the correct answer, but mine did not come with a mounting bracket. The calls and messages I left a number of times went unanswered. Instead of the bracket, they sent me 2 broken bolts(that were still in great shape when I got my response). My transom saver that I got from Extreme Max broke after I had the boat out for the first time. This is not a company I would trust

This is a strong ladder and easy to assemble, using SAE hardware instead of metric because I have no access to metric hardware
5/5

A set of 6 nuts, bolts, and fiber nuts) are virtually impossible to locate. It is possible to order 2 to 4 bolts and nuts online from nearly every source I know of. Therefore, as an engineer, I went with SAE alternative hardware made of stainless steel or zinc coated steel. Countersunk heads fit flush, so I had no problem finding them. As soon as you have securely attached your fiber nuts, you will have access to threads on both the 5/16" and 1/4 20. Leave them alone or use a cut off wheel to Dremel them flush. For the moment, I'm leaving mine alone so that I can see if I need to make any changes Adjust the tension. As I live in an area with high winds, I plan to add an additional lockup pin on the opposite side of the hand rail. This is a quality item and I was aware from reading the write ups that no hardware was It is a shame because many of us don't have access to a real hardware store that deals in You can't get it anywhere, not even at ACE or Lowe's HD. Using HD, I was able to obtain equivalent SAE values. As a cross reference, I am including this in this post to hopefully assist someone planning to install it. Using the hardware reference and lengths is very easy to install, and I hope it saves someone from having to figure out how to do this on their own. It was difficult to provide hardware suggestions for mounting the unit to a dock or specify where you plan to use it since there is so much variation. For the rear attachment to the synthetic decking, I used a 1/4-20 bolt with washers and a fiber nut for attachment. I used a large stainless steel lag bolt with washers into my front 2X6 that my synthetic deck boards are attached to.

An access ladder for swimming from the dockside
5/5

My dock has benefited greatly from the addition of a five step ladder. My grandkids were able to climb out of the lake with no difficulty. The ladder swings upside down after swimming and rests on the dock when finished. This allows it to be kept clean and ready for use when the dock is used next. (Stands about 6 feet tall when it is sitting on the dock).

This is a great idea for a tiny home ladder! The dock ladder was the answer to our need for a compact ladder long enough for our tiny house after we got creative
5/5

It is great because it takes up very little space and makes going up and down super straightforward. The design itself looks pretty sweet as well!.

I think it will work, but it needs to be improved
3/5

This is the dock I have installed. Due to the wide variation in water levels, I went with the five-step method. There is no problem with the aluminum work. All the joints are out of alignment. It would probably be better to use a teflon washer or even polypro washer between two washers for the pivot rather than a nut between them. I'm not a fan of how the nuts and washers look and how rickety they are. In this setup, the ladder leaves a large space between the mounts, so there is slop and the ladder wobbles a lot. There is sufficient strength, but there is no sense of Secondly, the ladder is made out of two pieces – a straight section and a rounded That makes sense, and it looks like the front is all the same, so it's only the lower sections that differ. Screws are driven through too small holes and a simple join is used. Despite its tightness, it is not comfortable. The joint is loose again. I think it's probably strong enough, but I am not confident in it. With a little more thought put into the assembly methods, this could have been an excellent product, but as it is, it suffers from a major weakness in the fastening of the parts together.

The solution works really well! There is no need to hold back in It was important to us that our dock ladder could be folded up when not in use so that it could be kept clean and would not be slimy from river water when we needed The solution works really well! You don't need to worry about letting it down into the water and retrieving it
5/5

Our ladder actually had a rope attached to it so that we could pull it out of the water. The water level changes should also be done in five steps. I was pleased with the speed of delivery and the ease of installation of the ladder. Since it was so much fun, we're going to switch the other two ladders for flip-ups as well.

The ladder was installed as per instructions on my dock, but it appears to have a lot of issues
3/5

You will need to pass an M8 bolt and a lock pin through the handrail in order to install both. The outcome of this will need to be seen, but I may switch Place your drill bit where you think it will be strongest.

I used this ladder with an EZ-Store
5/5

It is solid and strong and is a good value. We'd rather buy a dock than one of the expensive proprietary ladders they sell. The adapter plate I built is made of high-grade steel Attached to the dock's cleat fittings and accessory pockets are sheets of plywood coated with marine polyurethane. The ladder is a snap to assemble, is well-designed, and has a durable construction A consistent weld pattern is used throughout the construction. I have tried it in both upside-down and up-side-down positions, and it is very durable in both. I easily managed to fit on it with my weight (230 pounds), but it is also designed for small children, whose hands are captured by a solid arch that can be gripped. It is possible to keep the ladder out of water when it is not in use, thus preventing marine growth and keeping it looking good, yet the mechanism makes it easy to operate. It is an excellent solution and I am very happy with it.

This is a great ladder for the price
4/5

It is awesome to use as a swimming ladder Since we live aboard a boat, it is a concern for safety In addition, a crutch to use when getting on and off different types of water crafts. There are only two criticisms I have. 2) I torqued a bolt A new one will be needed as the old one is crooked. The bending should not have been so easy. It would be easier to climb the ladder if there was more incline to it. Among the accolades I have received are the following We are looking at heavy gauge aluminum here. 1) The washers and screws seem to be stainless steel. Three) The five step size (the one we got) is well spaced and the welds seem to be.
