Questions & Answers

What exactly is a "quick release mounting bracket" and how does it ?

As you described, the tubing is just snapped over the plastic. Is actually very good at what they do. The boat didn't come loose while I was driving it. The boat usually has a velcro strap wrapping around it when I am trailering it. The quick release buckle, which is black plastic and wraps around the tubing, is for lowering the ladder the ladder assembly itself stays on the boat with screws or bolts.

Is there a size requirement for the platform you need to have this fit?

The minimum depth is 5 inches and the minimum width is 16 inches.

Does it have to be mounted on the front of a pontoon boat in order for the boat to run up onto shore so that just 1 or 2 steps need to be extended to exit it?

Unfortunately, this ladder is not capable of being extended by just a few There will be no reduction in any of the four steps. In that case you might want to extend it just enough so that it reaches the bottom, and then you would only need to use the top steps.

Appearance is nice, it is easy to install, and it has some strengths, but there are also a few weaknesses, no? This ladder was purchased to be used on my dock beyond my boat, rather than as a boat ladder
4/5

It is important for me to have a stainless steel ladder that can be raised out of the water when it is no longer being used, so that it does not get slippery or grow algae. I found this ladder to be very suitable for my needs. In terms of assembly, it was as easy to install as it was to assemble. When it is upright, the telescoping part of it gives it a low-profile, less noticeable appearance (many hinged dock ladders end up being unsightly large, since they either stick 4 feet or more into the air. (In my case, these are not a great deal of a deal) there are three weak points in the ladder's build #1 Read this! The bungy attached to the ladder is supposed to help you lift it up on the way up, but it doesn't quite do that. A person must get out of the vehicle, turn around, and lean over to hinge up the ladder. Here's the #2 It is stated that the steps are extra wide My concern would be if these ladders are extra wide, but I'd hate to see a narrow or normal Those who weigh more than this ladder will find it too narrow The cabin isn't too narrow, just quite narrow, so it won't hold more than a couple hundred pounds. My family and I do not consider this a major factor. There is no way the bolt-thru plates welded to the ladder for fastening are flat when placed on a flat surface, as noted by other reviewers. Since I installed it on a wooden dock, I was able to reinforce the mounting point from underside to force two of the mounting plates flat against the dock. However, if you plan to install it on an aluminum or fiberglass boat surface, this is unlikely to be a issue. You may need to return the ladder if your mounting plates arrive in an unusable state if you fall into this category Those (and other people's) did so in a flat manner. I found the ladder to be useful and it remains useful. This ladder is way more convenient than a ladder without hand holds as it allows you to get out of the water without going too far. As a result of the "pull-" The "up" bungie is a good idea, but its implementation seems a bit off (I tried moving it to different positions, but overall it's still the same result, getting out then turning around and bending over when I reenter the room). It took me only a few days to install this ladder after buying it in 2019. It looks good how the build is put together. There is definitely Chinese quality control involved in the production process. It was mostly correct but not completely accurate, and had errors that any simple or basic quality control system should have caught and corrected.

Obviously, mounting the Brackets is not as straightforward as it seems, since they don't lie flat on the dock
3/5

There is no flat surface on which to mount the bracket. There are two photos at the end of this email that demonstrate what I'm Aluminum is the material of my dock, and stainless steel is the material of my brackets. My aluminum brackets will bend if I try to force them down to the dock, but the stainless steel will not. It's been two weeks since I contacted the seller for support, but I haven't heard anything. The unit will be returned for a full refund if I don't hear from you shortly. The steps are well constructed, so I'm not happy about that.

I like the ladder very much! Step ladder that works great! The boat fittings are designed for pontoon boats, however, as you can see, they work well on the old-style wooden swim platform of the sport cuddy
5/5

When the engine is in the down position, the steps line up with the engine out drive. With the extra length, one can easily get in and out of the boat. This ladder is strong and will hold up to 400 pounds despite my four spinal fusion surgeries. I have climbed it with minimal effort and it is well made. Great job, I love.

I found it to be very The ladder has been mounted on the transom of my 20ft bay boat and is standing up to heavy traffic and a high degree of This camera looks like it just came out of the box
5/5

As the last person up the ladder, you should tie a line to the bottom step so that he or she can bring the line with them up the ladder. By doing so, you will eliminate the awkward process of having to grab the lower half of the ladder while hanging half your body over the transom. When you pull the line up, the bottom half folds up nice and easily.

Fabrication of this product is poor
3/5

There are a lot of crooked welds. This is junk. This is a poorly fabricated story. Welding is so crooked on this thing that it is unfunny. My order was placed, I paid my money, I waited, and now I am stuck with trying to do it all over again or mounting this crooked warped ladder to The situation I'm in right now is so aggravating. There must be no quality control where these things are built. How could a company sell a product of such poor quality? Even though it appears heavy duty, they could not use a framing square to frame it. There will always be a crooked look on the boat when it is doing this.

If installing on a dock, be careful
3/5

As far as I can tell, this ladder is heavy and sturdy. Stainless steel is a superior material, but it will only be apparent after time and weathering. As is the standard practice, my dock was constructed with 2x10s around the perimeter and a cross beam of 2x6 or 2x4 for support. Trex is the name I use for my computer. There is a problem with this ladder since the holes in that rim that must be screwed into the dock to attach the ladder to the dock are exactly on the edge of the two by ten. It is fine to sister in another piece of wood, but the screw will still go through both My first thought was to raise the whole end of the dock by adding another piece of 2x4 and then a piece of flat marine plywood above that. By screwing the rim to that, but there are a few problems. In reality, it would not be screwed to anything more substantial than a 1 or a 3 piece and a Rather than writing more detail, I would like to just say that the elevated part of the dock could be a tripping hazard. A ladder such as this will be a hassle to install if your dock is constructed from 2xX lumber. The use of 4x4s in construction is not something I have seen, but that would not be an issue. This ladder would not have been possible if I had to tear down the dock to reconstruct the framing from that end. I would also like to emphasize that the screws supplied are only enough to keep the old seal on the old screw. Therefore, if you damage or lose something above water, too bad (it is much more likely to occur at this level. As such, this will always be a technique that works above the As bad as all Chinese instructions are, this one is no exception. There is a simple solution, but it's easy to understand. As discussed above, people complain about the ends of the railing not touching the rim, and for that reason, they are correct. If the level were raised to 128 or 34, there would have been another problem to solve. In the end, I shimmied the bases of the railing and screwed it down (I had to add another cross beam, but that was okay). As I wrote in my last blog, my way of installing the dock is disgraceful because I played with wood and used what I had. If it fails, the only thing that will fall into the water will be someone falling into it. It looks okay when covered with the Trex, but I do not know how long it will last. The death toll will be zero. Nevertheless, if and when that happens, it might be necessary to replace the Trex and basic structure. I don't like this situation at all. My only reason for not returning it was that it is a narrow ladder and I had to place it at the end of the dock in an extremely narrow space.
