This kayak hardware works well for my Kayak. It is made of sturdy steel and has survived a number of trips on the lake with this hardware attached As far as I can tell, you are likely to need to drill the holes a small bit larger so that the bolt can fit in. I couldn't get the bolt on it right out of the package because it was so tight. It is probably the reason why many people have complained about hardware failure. To provide a reference, here's a photo showing it installed with 1/4 rope.
