The wood screw I used was a #7 x 1 3/4" phillips flat-head screw with zinc plating. Bolt Depot is not the easiest place to find them I ordered them online.

The center to center distance is 1 3/4"

Approximately 7/32 inch diameter and about 15 mm depth is the size of the mounting hole. The first one". The diameter of the hole would be 3/16". If you need a longer length, you could also use a counter head bolt of number 10.

This plaque was attached to a distressed piece of wood using a #10 x 1-inch nail The screws ordered from Amazon are also 3" Stainless Steel Phillips Oval Head screws. *Because cleats are well made and have a nice polished finish, they appear to be well constructed.

Drilling holes in an inconsistent manner

Steel is of good quality. However, the holes are inconsistent and can only accommodate a #6 screw for me, which is only available in zinc. We are disappointed because there is no rust proof mounting method for these rods despite the high quality involved.
