Questions & Answers

Will it be good for 5 people with beer coolers and a wooden fishing boat that weighs around 2000 pounds with dogs and still be fast if I only have $300?

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES,

Will this motor be able to push my 12 foot aluminum boat around?

In the fifth forward speed, my 12' Valco Aluminum boat propels itself around quite well. It was probably 5 or 6 mph at the most. However, I never did it for an extended period of time, so I'm not sure how long the battery would last if I did it all day. It moves slowly until you shift into fifth gear, at which point it accelerates nicely. I've also never tried it in a strong headwind or current.

In high-speed operation, how many amps does this motor draw?

Hello,br>The top speed of the 36-pound NV Series motor is 29 amps. I hope this has been of assistance! I'd like to know how much horsepower the Newport Vessels 55 Pound Thrust 8 Electric Trolling Motor has in order to determine if it's legal to use in the lake I'd like to use it in. ?

Take into account, Herbert, that I'm using this motor on a 12-foot kayak. My current usage averages 12 amps per hour - That's with the handle set to "3." If I had a bigger boat, I'd use the "5" setting to increase the power (and keep the same speed). This would consume about 20 amps per hour. As you can see, this nearly doubles the amount of power I'd use, bringing the HP rating to twice what it is now. a rate of 193 HP per hour is equal to. 386HP/hr. The battery life, on the other hand, would be halved. If you had a 150Amp/hr battery that was twice the size, you could - You'd end up with two, which is quite a lot. I believe 316 HP/6 hours is the most likely scenario. I calculated a thrust of 75 after reading one of the answers. A newton meter is a unit of measurement that is equal to 55 newtons. 68 ft/lbs is a weight-to-weight ratio of 68 ft/ There were a couple of rounding errors. This is very close to the 55-pound thrust requirement. If anyone causes you any problems, please let us know. Tell them that electric motors do not have horsepower ratings, but that the motor has a thrust rating of 75. 5 newton- meters. Inquire about converting that to a comparable HP rating. Tell them this while they stare at you as if you have three eyes: "I've already done the math and it comes out to. Watch the person say: "386 horsepower at maximum thrust." " Uhhhh- yea - That appears to be the case. good. uh . Is your life jacket with you? yea? great . uh. gotta go. Wishing you a pleasant day! "br>Keep an eye on the person who jumps into the truck - peeling away, perplexed as to what a newton-type device is. meter is.

It's comforting to know that they back up their product
5/5

I bought a 55-ton trolling motor for saltwater use. When the motor casing began to rust, I contacted Newport Vessels for assistance. They requested that I send them photos of it as well as a copy of the receipt from the store where I bought it. They called me back a few days later and informed me that a new 55 thrust rolling motor would be sent to me. They reasoned that something must have gone wrong during the production of mine. I received the replacement a few days later, free of charge, via FedEx. It's comforting to know that if one of their products fails, they'll replace it. 5 STARS for excellent customer service!.

a small boat that travels at around 5 mph and has a long range on battery power   So far, we've had a lot of fun with this motor, which can carry a small boat at about 5 mph and has a long battery life
4/5

I'll give it five stars once we see how it holds up after a few years of exposure to salt water, but so far it's been great. I noticed a few reviews that described this motor as "loud," which prompted me to write this review because our motor has been extremely quiet, even when running at full speed. I've included a video to give you an idea of what the speed and sound are like; so far, it's been great, but I'll try to remember to update after a year.

I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to others
5/5

The motor's quality and ease of use have left me very impressed. set up. I bought an Intex Excursion 5 and a motor mount for it. Because the boat only has a 1 horsepower motor, I'm going to put this one on it. The rating is 5 HP. This motor, according to my calculations, produces around 1 horsepower. On my first boat's maiden voyage, I tested it out and paired it with a Wal-Mart motor. Mart 29DC Marine Battery is a marine battery with a voltage of 29 volts On a slightly windy day, it pushed my boat at a smooth 7 to 8 MPH at top speed. The Battery Charge Indicator is accurate for almost 3 hours. raising or lowering the motor It was also a straightforward situation. br>br>I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to others. It's significantly less expensive than a 50-pound Min Kotta and performs equally well, if not better.

Sailboats will like it
5/5

They also fixed the issue with the "clicks"! These posts, in my opinion, adequately describe the motor's function. I'd like to point out that I'm doing this on a 23-foot sailboat: It's ideal for getting out of and into the slip without having to battle a gas engine. On a small yacht, I wouldn't use it as your sole mode of propulsion: It struggles to keep up with a 7 knot headwind, and your battery can only last so long. br>br>In addition, the manufacturer has addressed the "clicks" issue in the most recent version of this motor: The throttle used to not "click" at different power levels in the previous version. Your cooktop's dial "clicks" into low, medium, high, and so on, but this throttle didn't provide any feedback. It was particularly difficult to tell when the motor had been turned off without looking down at the propeller because you couldn't tell when the throttle had been turned to zero by feeling it. Each throttle level now has its own distinct "click" in the new version.

It's a good motor; it's powerful enough to propel my 8-footer
4/5

It's powerful enough to easily push my 8-foot rib with two people and some freight (approximately 500 pounds), though not powerful enough to plane it out. It's also fairly quick and has plenty of torque on all settings in the ocean. It's nice that it's quiet; it makes for a relaxing cruise with plenty of opportunities for conversation. In calm conditions around an anchorage, it can also slowly push my 6000lb 25ft hard top cruiser on the highest setting (which was not my intention). br>br>In my 8ft RIB tender (which weighs about 150lbs empty), I've used two Optima BlueTop D31M batteries (75Ahx2=150Ah), and I've yet to run out of power, even after a full weekend of use to get from boat to beach, cruise a few hundred feet here and there to pick up crab traps, etc. It took a couple of hours to kill the batteries when I cycled them (so don't do that). br>br>I've now switched to a single Sealed AGM 100Ah battery, the UPG UB121000 (Universal Power Group/Universal Battery), which is a very cost-effective and reliable battery. Fits in a battery box, lasts a long time, and is reasonably priced per amp-hour. Hour is okay; it has a handle and weighs around 60 pounds, which isn't too bad. When I'm at an anchorage, I'm planning to install two flexible 50w solar panels and a pwm controller inside the battery box so I don't have to use my boat's solar plant to charge it; it'll be charging all the time. I also tried using my spare UB4D 200Ah battery with this motor, and it ran literally forever; I never got that big battery to drain, but I won't do it again because that battery is 150lbs and lifting it into the tender I hope this has been of assistance.

The boat is absolutely fantastic
4/5

The engine is what makes everything go. This motor was purchased to go with a Newport inflatable boat that I own. The boat is absolutely fantastic. On the other hand, there's the motor. br>br>I chose this one because it was clearly marked as saltwater compatible. At first, it performed admirably, with plenty of power and adjustability. br>br>Unfortunately, the seals appear to be failing miserably. I give it a good hosing every now and then. after using it in saltwater, but it was locked up tight when I went to use it this weekend after it had been sitting in a garage for about 6 months. br>br>When the casing was removed, it was found to be full of salt deposits and corrosion. The bearings have gone kaput. Brushes that have been fried are now available. br>br>Over the course of two years, I've probably used this thing ten times. I am dissatisfied with my current situation. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: Newport replaced my motor under warranty, and the new one is holding up well; I'm very pleased with the customer service, and I've adjusted my score to reflect this.
