That's what I think will happen. My Minn Kota is mounted on a side mount Minn Kota on a canoe to help it stay horizontal when There is no more shaking or vibration with this product.
The bolts and nuts I used were 1/4 in. stainless bolts
I have used this on my pontoon, but it depends on your mounting method. Stow the motor in a stowed position and measure the length. It's OK if it's too long, but it's not ok if it's too short If you don't shimm it, it's no go.

It is mounted on the front of my Crestliner Fish Hawk 1650 with the Motorguide Xi5 60" and its quick release mount. Using a Suremount accessory bracket, we mounted this to it and it works great. A great mount, all metal construction, and the head of the trolling motor is held securely in place. As the Xi5 has a composite shaft, I wanted to reduce the number of times I had to move it back and forth. As a further benefit, it adds another point where someone may be able to grab the motor if they attempt to steal it. As an added bonus, I am no longer required to lock the trolling motor in the up position by using the collar lock of the motor. The purchase has been a positive experience for me.
This is a great Just in case the base unit needs to be moved, I matched it with a Brocraft Versatrack mount. If it's in the stationary position, you can just loosen the "jaw" holding the trolling motor to the post, and the ram mount can sit there. Release the latch and you will easily be able to remove the trolling motor. Excellent setup. I'm very happy with it.
With such a long shaft, when getting to the right spot for fishing, the head would bob up and down in even the slightest chop, and it seems like it could be bad for the motor, which is already a little finicky. It holds everything in place as securely as a rock no matter what the waves are like and folds up out of the way when the motor is in use. There has been a history of trolling motor repairs on these models. I've got a lot of things to say. There's a constant "bouncing" they do at speed or as they are trailered. I wonder if that is a contributing factor. We'll have to wait and see how that turns out.
It was bought to use on trolling motors to brace up the front so it doesn't bounce around. The plastic part works well, however the price was high. The motor costs a lot of money and needs to be protected. The items were cheaper on other sites, but they did not fit or work well. The xtra shipping was a wise choice as I knew I could return the item on Amazon.
Easy to move from one location to another and easy to load onto a trailer or move from a tractor trailer to a different vehicle.
I used it in conjunction with my long shaft Minn Kota trolling motor as a transport stabilizer. The stainless steel 3/8 pop rivets I used to secure it to the hull of my aluminum KingFisher are perfect. The Ram mount is a serious piece of equipment. Although I thought it would be lighter, it's much heavier. When the motor is turned on, this mount is also a great option for mounting a bow camera. This would have been more useful if I had gotten it years ago instead of having to pull my motor every time I traveled.
It took me a while to get to Lowe's before I could install!.
This mount was used to stabilize the terrova trolling motor on a 2020 185 competitor by mounting it on top of the brocraft mount. I had to "side mount" it to use it on the oem alumatrac mounting brackets. According to my measurements, the mount is about 1inch short of what the manufacturer's brackets specify. A flat surface is found on top of the brocraft mount. It was just a matter of drilling two holes in the brocraft mount and attaching it. A rock solid foundation.
