You're right, they're supposed to Good length is good as long as it isn't too long. If you want new ones, measure your old ones first

These work on 1988 140 Johnsons?

I purchased these for my 1997 115 Evinrude by using this same method I found the spark plug wires there and the part number matched the part number on these they worked excellent on my 1997 115 Evinrude that I purchased using the same method.

What are the chances of these working on a Johnson 112 PL?

I have them on the exact motor and they work without a hitch.

The wires are of very high quality. As others have stated, the wheels are a little longer than OEM, but the price and value are hard to beat. As a reference I attached a picture of what I installed on an Evinrude 112 Spl.

A failure report was issued on May 21 2020 for a unit purchased on July 14 2019 (2). As soon as the boot touched the ground, it began to arch outward. It is a Johnson/Evenrude 115-hp engine.

I am finding it to be a good tool My 1995 Johnson 115HP outboard required stainless steel core plug wires, which work just fine with these longer than the 6 inches I needed

Older motors called for carbon core plug wires (at large prices), but these stainless steel core wires work just fine with this.

I was very happy with the result. I would have liked to have seen more grease provided with it. There isn't a lot to complain about in terms of It will cost you $20 one wire from each dealer, and you will have to join them.

The plugs and the starter with wires I ordered worked as expected
New to me boat runs great, I haven't had any issues, and I've gotten plenty of use out of it. 120 v4 Johnson starts every time.

Although these are significantly longer than the wires I replaced on my 88SPL, the quality is excellent and they do the job.
