Questions & Answers

Mossberg 500s come with the four set screws, and the holes on the rail align perfectly with the screws. Are the screws too small for the holes in the ?

In our description, we describe that our rail is made for Mossbergs dated after 1997. Unless you've got a pre 1997 Mossberg, the holes are shallower in diameter than after 1997 Mossbergs, so threading them requires a different method. There are different screws that can be used on the rail. The screws required for this project are 6x48 TPI, which you can purchase from

Can this be used with a mossburg 500 20 gauge?

There is only one requirement your 500/590 must have the four very small mounting holes at the top of the chamber. The fitment is universal for Mossberg 5oo//590

Is it possible to find out what size screws are used here? I ordered an UTG model & it came with 8 x 40, but the Mossberg 500A is tapped for 6 x 48, so the screws were too large. ?

As I do, you have the same problem I do. Preparing for a test is your job It has a 6*48 screw thread on the 1997 model. In the case of models created after 1997, these mounts are provided with 8x40 screws. The screws I need for my work are missing. They may be available at one of these companies. Hope you have a successful career.

This would fit a Mossberg blaze 22lr, wouldn't it?

There is only a 500 series shotgun for which it is made.

Installing this product is extremely easy
5/5

It is very easy to install, easy to modify, and was purchased for Mossberg 590 Shockwave. Screwdrivers specially designed for light fittings should be used to remove the factory top screws. Cleaning screw holes with QTip and 90% Rub Alcohol is a good idea. Use very small amounts of blue locktite only where the threads are just below the The breach would be too wide if too much was allowed to flow! It is recommended to use a better allen key set with handle rather than the All 4 screws should be hand tightened, then the front and back, and finally the middle one should be snug. If necessary, do this three times gently to ensure that the rails are Set the timer for 20 minutes and you'll be On Top of the laser, I mounted an Ade Advanced Optics HG54G Low Profile Green Laser. A red dot and Sightmark 12 ga boresight is included as well. A light adjustment is needed for the green dot sight to zero for accuracy across the house. I also attached Talon grips, they are much more comfortable. As well as the snap on optical sight, which covers the useless There is an opening on the bottom of the green dot sight so that even when the gun is brought up to chest level, you can still see green optic from the Additionally, I switched out the factory safety for the ProMag, a decision that made all the difference over the plastic factory safety. I can now mount my slide, remove my safety, and turn on the laser, which is mounted at the back of the rail, and point it at any target at home. Even if this were true, I would not like to be on the receiving end. My Shockwave was significantly improved as a personal defense weapon for light of darkness thanks to these small modifications. A small flashlight mount can be attached to the front barrel of the rifle for safe and easy operation. There is still some light behind the barrel end of a 14" barrel. My completed mods cost less than $100, and you can see them in the attached photos.

I have no time for your mossy

Good to go. It occurs to me that I am in the minority here, but I have just received this rail and have done a test fitting and haven't been happy. After checking the reviews, I realized that others have also noticed the same drawbacks. I own a regular old Mossberg 500, which I am in the process of In spite of my plans to mount a Vortex Viper red dot on this rail, I will search for another one. The following are the reasons In the first photo, the screws are very short. The receivers do not have enough threads to accommodate them. Since other reviews (and basic gunsmithing) have told me not to tighten these screws too much, I hand-tightened them to just over how tight I would install these with blue Loctite. However, I would need longer screws if I wanted to In addition to what others have noted, (and the last 3 pictures illustrate), the bottom of this rail has a curved/radiused edge, whereas the top of my 500's receiver where the rail would mount is flattened. The flat bottom of my rail would seem to be better suited to work with the top of my receiver. Perhaps I can even make use of the threading available with those same length screws, so my gun won't need to be attached. A round peg needs a square hole, or something along those lines. Those who share my concerns might be interested in Weaver's rail with a flat bottom. I believe it is available at similar pricing.

Review in its truest sense
5/5

I really like this rail. As a result of a lot of shooting this afternoon, I have found that A lot of people say the screws are stripping and are crappy. Additionally, they say the Allen wrench indent is too large for the wrench that comes with the unit. The weekend warrior has a fail safe for such a situation. Most people don't know that the receivers on Mossberg shotguns are made of aluminum to keep the rifle's weight down. Aluminum is however a very strong material. I do not like the steel of the They design these screws so that if the screw fails from overcranking, it will not strip the thread in the aluminium The reason there's an extra screw is because of that. You should at least know something about firearms before you trash a product, As a result, I gave it 5 stars because of its strong grip and the fact that it holds zero well. These rails will not cause any problems for you.

It was cheaply made
3/5

First, we have the following As a result of the way that the screw holes in the rails are sized, the rails sit relatively loosely. There is no possibility of getting a straight lineup. The second problem is They also come with nuts and bolts of a strange size that don't fit the wrench that comes with I had troubles installing the rail because the allen slid around so much in the screws. The screws began to slip even before I had a chance to tighten them and strip out the allen There was a size (2. ) in my wrench collection. This one fitted better, but it was still a little Because the alen head could not be fitted by a SAE wrench, I could not use the wrench. Originally purchased from Amazon, I am returning it to Amazon. I might find screws that fit at the hardware store if it weren't such an inexpensive buy. Due to the fact that the holes in the rails are so oversized and make installation very difficult. It doesn't make sense to spend money on new screws to maintain The quality of this product will be more important to me.

This is an amazing fit
5/5

Based on two reviews I saw, I was concerned. One person was talking about how the bottom of the dish isn't flat, and that's completely incorrect. As a result of the curve on top of the Shockwave, the bottom of this unit is also A second point is how it does not fit properly. Due to the screw size, I was worried that my AR15 rail wouldn't fit here. However, they have the correct screw size, and I'm giving five stars for including an With the unit, you'll find five screws. If you wish to prevent this from coming off, you will need to use blue locktite on the screws to prevent it from falling out. What is happening here is nothing more than I like them because they are metal (probably aluminum) and are well made, easy to install, etc. In my Bernelli, the shell holders came with a rail for the 509 Shockwave. I'm not sure if they work for anything else. It only has one con you won't be able to use them if you have Marinecote Shockwave. In any event, they aren't in too bad shape.
