I installed it in my 20ft cabin cruiser, which is not open to the elements but has been exposed to some water overflow and is still working well three years later.
I'm not sure if the dimensions are identical to the C351, but this is a good compass that would be as accurate as any Danforth.
It can be hung on a wall, but the compass will not function properly.

It appeared to be of good quality, which pleased me. It was a breeze to set up. This is when things started to go wrong. Three days after the installation, I noticed the fluidity was evaporating! I double-checked to make sure the unit wasn't cracked, and it wasn't. My boat is moored at a marina without a covered dock, so the only explanation is that the solution is water, which has evaporated. You'd think that exposing the unit to the sun and not evaporating would be expected.
I used to have one of these, and it worked fine until it became old and unsightly, so I decided to replace it. It was a breeze to put it together because I simply dropped it into the opening and the screw holes all lined up. I haven't calibrated it yet, and it's possible that I won't have to. I don't use a compass because I don't go very far and usually have cell service for my phone app. I also have a GPS with me. So far, it appears to be fairly accurate, and it provides reassurance in the event that my other high-tech alternatives fail. I couldn't find anything comparable in terms of quality for the price.
Instead of sending it in for repair, I decided to replace it with a new one that includes the service revisions and upgrades. It works perfectly, and the price was reasonable; it even lights up in the dark!.
The F- The Explorer Compass number 50 is identical to the one that needs to be replaced. To correct "Deviation," mounted screws were included, as well as a brass adjusting tool. " The two wire leads aren't connected in any way. opposing viewpoints There is a gasket included with the installation. Mounted in the exact same manner as the original. The dampening fluid is non-repairable, despite the "repairable" label on the packaging card. It is possible to refill it.
It was a perfect match. It looks fantastic. Although the green internal light is different from the orange original, it still looks great.
For the first year, it worked well, but fluid was lost. After two years, I had lost all of my fluid.
This is what I use as a compass on my boat. It performed admirably and was simple to set up.
This is the second time in 14 years that I've had to buy one. It was simple to choose the same one because the first had lasted 14 years. Thank you for being a dependable brand that I know will always get me home.
