I bought this for my father for Christmas, and the quality of the leather case it came in wowed me right away. It does have a thick belt loop on the back, and it still smells like new leather. Then the beauty of this pocket watch and its chain took my breath away. Look at it for a moment. The pictures do not do it justice, and it came with two complimentary keychain hourglasses, which was a pleasant surprise. One will go to my father, and the other will be kept by me. Finally, the company's note was reassuring and just nice, and it was that small business courtesy that prompted me to write a review. You're all fantastic. The compass is lovely, and I'm looking forward to giving it to my grandson for his First Communion. He is an outdoorsy kid who will be enthralled by this compass. The small pouch is made of thick leather that will last a long time. Your inclusion of a small hourglass was a pleasant surprise!!.

It's of good quality, and it's handy to have on hand in case of an emergency

The compass, in particular, appeals to me. It has an old vintage feel to it, which I attribute to the fact that the metal isn't gleaming. I don't believe it's waterproof, and it's unlikely to withstand extreme weather, but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen so far. It's a little larger than I anticipated, but it's still a good compass. br>br>The only thing that disappoints me is that I expected to receive it with the blue case as shown in the picture, but instead I received one with a brown case, which I don't care for. I couldn't wait to return or replace it because I needed it for a trip right away, so I only gave it three stars.
